Honestly I really wouldn’t bother with these, they really are a pile of turd, my house is now constantly freezing cold after my landlord decided to instal one of these instead of replacing the rotten windows which are the real cause of my condensation problems! They aren’t particularly quiet and even tho I have the heated version it barely even warms the air and I’ve been told it’ll only heat up to 2 degrees! Yes it might help damp problems but so will opening all your windows 24/7 which is exactly what having one of these is like in cold months even at it’s lowest setting! Only watching this video to make the removal a little easier for myself

Typical response from a person who likely moaned about damp and doesn't care about the actual property. The air quality will have improved 10-fold, making your health better and through time will also protect the landlords property .. I bet when you turn it off that you still don't open a window...

@@gman3474 nope windows have always and will to continue to be opened every day! That’s a typical landlord reply of oh it must be the tenants fault but in this case it’s down to the landlord taking the cheaper option that comes with a lot of draw backs. I was just pointing out that these systems probably do work but there are issues that come with them, if you want a constantly cold house you crack on though!

Hi, I live in a dormer bungalow where 2 rooms have been built into the loft space. There is a section of loft space above the central hallway which is approx 2.6m x 1.6m. The volume of this loft space is approx 2.6m3. This is where i inted to install the PIV unit. Will a PIV unit still work properly despite the small loft space available? Is there a minimum loft space required for these to work?

These thigs are terribly cold My housing association has installed one(on cold setting 24 hours a day) in my tiny bungalow ,In the kitchen, there's 5-7 degrees difference from living room to kitchen so when opening living room door cold comes in !! . Ignorance on my arrogant landlords part as there's a passage way between kitchen and bathroom !! and who wants to be running 400 watts per hour in this energy state were in at the moment . Ignorant tenants, landlords and homeowners are the cause of condensation and mould growth. Education is needed ,not a freezing cold unit costing hundreds of £.

How does this work though? Seems really good but where does the unit get the fresh air from? Because there’s only the ducting from the unit going into the hallway but no ducting going from the unit to outside the house?
@giovanniderienzo4936
@giovanniderienzo4936 Жыл бұрын
Most lofts are naturally ventilated on the sides where the roof tiles end. If yours is not, then they do a unit that has a separate duct that you can run to atmosphere.

Bought the ‘hall control’ so that I don’t have to go into the loft. Waste of money. LED doesn’t work and been in and out of loft to turn it on and off and disconnected and re-connected cables etc. Now it’s stuck on full blast in the middle of winter for a small semi-detached house. I’ll be returning it, no help on FAQs or instruction manual

what is inside the unit? Fan sucking air from outside and heating element?
@giovanniderienzo4936
@giovanniderienzo4936 Жыл бұрын
Pretty much. It is very simple - a fan inside the unit sucking air from inside your loft through filters and blowing it continuously over a heated element into your home via the ceiling duct/grille.

There is one in property i currently rent. Although it may be good getting the moisture out, it is somehow energy inefficient as the unit does blows cold air into the house all night causing heat loss at a steady constant rate. No extraction and heat exchanger unit as the air gets out of the property through multiple microholes eg untight windows and doors.would be great to see it with a proper heat recovery unit. Or maybe there is one ?

Our loft gets much warmer than our house as it gets much more solar heat. The upstairs floor gets warmer than the ground floor. I am thinking of installing one of these mainly to circulate heat from the loft to the ground floor (rather than to cure condensation). Would this unit work well? If so would I be best having the outlet on the ground floor ceiling rather than under the loft on the landing?

How important is it to centrally locate the diffuser? My ceiling spans the stars and landing, and the centre is right under some joists. The roof is also a pyramid type shape and so it's awkward to locate due to the slope of the roof. Any advice is gratefully appreciated. Really looking forward to getting it in.

Same here absolutely freezing staircase in the centre of the house. Huge hole where vent is. Not great for keeping your home warm. It has been installed in a small loft and takes up a lot of room. I don't know how much energy these things use either, I'm seriously considering turning the unit off or better still removing it all together.

I have this exact unit.. it's brilliant,stops all damp and condensation..I do get a bit of hot loft smell before it cuts out on the thermo switch ( normally springtime when it gets hot outside but fans still running) and in the winter I have the fan speed on 3 or even lower at 2 because even when the heater is turned up to full, you still get a coldish air chill from the diffuser..in turn making my landing cold and making my hallway central heating rad stat cut in more often than I'd like..however other than that I really love it.
