Late summer 2005. University halls party outside. I was burning music straight from limewire for the night, and a lad from Stoke called Steve told me to include this weird Babyshambles song he'd heard. Accidentally got this instead of the studio recording. When it came on he told me I'd found the dangerous version. Played it about 10 times over and we laughed like idiots at how good it was. Great days. Miss you, buddy.

Tight version, goddamn. The Patrick Walden-Peter Doherty connection was so glorious. Peter with Mick, Peter with Carl, and Peter with Drew are equally amazing, but damn do I love Patrick Walden too. So much. What a legend. I hope he's doing well now. What an incredible grouping of songwriting talents they all are.

River knew it was going to be put on backwards so he was talking random bullshit. Has no one else ever fucked around making music with their friends? Lol. I think it's hilarious, he may have been high, but this seems like just silliness. C'mon: "I wish I could sing to the melody" He says this because John told him he couldn't listen to the song, and to just make sounds. ""We did two songs," John expands. "One's called 'Bought Her Soul', and it's the second song on the album. I recorded the song and I said to River, 'Make sounds with your voice and I'll record you backwards over this song but you're not allowed to hear the song.' "So he made sounds into the mic while I recorded and listened to it on the headphones. That's the other voice in the background besides my voice. It went perfectly with the song. We were cosmic together." "The other song is 'Soul Removal'. He sings and wrote the first half, and I wrote the second half, and you can hear the guitars on that. It has the thickness of a bunch of guitars, but the unity of one guitar. We weave in and out of each other in a really cool, natural way.""

It's really disturbing what rubbish people talk when they're on drugs, it's like they're mentally ill. I used to like RP but after hearing this he was clearly a freak.
@sashabrown17965 жыл бұрын
Really? Creativity comes from free association. Usually you only see or hear the end product which has been distilled and refined. This was two creative people messing around. Ever heard of 'the exquisite corpse'?

That's funny... Me too. I'm 35 now, can never find a dealer and am satisfied with beer n wine. Strange how when we were 18 it just had to be whisky. there was absolutely no need for it!
