Balaclava

Balaclava was born five years ago on a sunny afternoon as two sisters were spotted busking. They have since taken their music to little bars, cafes, concert halls and festivals.

Inspired by a deep sister connection, Balaclava combines soulful rhythm and punchy basslines with harmonic singing. Having grown up in London and lived in different parts of the world, Dani and Charissa take their inspiration from across the globe: r&b, dub, british folk, reggae, gospel, funk, soul, capoeira, batucada, cumbia, afrobeats, son jarocho, wassoulou, calypso...

Balaclava’s meditative lyrics are coupled with powerful melodies, bringing you a warm woody sound with vibrant beats that will touch the soul.
