Let me tell you..I'm 57 years old..the Grateful Dead are my favorite band..but these guys are close 2nd. Easter Everywhere changed my life in 1986 at 19 years old. Sleeping with a woman who hung with the band in '66 was the reason I found them. Thank you Donna.

why does kenny always mess up that studio recording solo?? i'm trying to find a live "what i am" were he does it clean but he comes in late always has to reach down to the pedal or doesn't come in on time then doodles around half ass hitting wrong notes. and on this one edie was annoyed so she missed the pre chorus on purpose because every time kenny's solo is a bunch of bars more than normal comes he has trouble coming in on time. so she purposely missed "choke me in the shallow water" i mean i think it's embarrasing!! maybe you mess up one show or two but every live performance of "what i am" is bad and not only the solo but the other parts too. he hits too many wrong notes. you figured he had to play that song 1000 times so theres no excuse. i love edie brickell. was in love with her words and had a lot of positive memories '88 thru '94. she was an inspiration to me. and me being a bass player 1st, bradley was so good and soulful. i loved the way he would shake his booty to the groove. i actually met him at poplar creek in illinois when they played. edie opened for don henley. and brad went out into the seats and started listening to henley and i went up to him and congratulated him and told him i much i loved his bass lines. he was a super nice guy. i wish i met edie. i was actually by her tour bus, she never came out. and kenny's studio solo is so damn good that i was so impressed that i memorized each part and i could sing it. i mean i dont know what happened but its not good. and a lot of the other songs are played ok on guitar. but edie is still pretty good.

I discovered Tarnation and the amazing Paula Frazier in the form of a demo CD when I was a reporter in Colorado in the 1990s. I played the disc to death and am still listening obsessively on KZbin. Such an incredible sound and beautiful lyrics. She is like the great Vashti Bunyon among singer/songwriters who never enjoyed the following they deserved but more than deserve to be discovered in this day and age. Truly timeless.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think this was her “come back” song after her last husband passed away. If so, I can understand why it has a healing feeling to it. Love love love it ❤️❤️❤️
