Ted Greene played Fender Telecaster. Julian is playing the same, but without 'Fender' written on the head. So lovely that electric guitar jazz musicians hone in on the Fender Telecaster and rock musicians often love the Stratocaster. Fender, more than Gibson, appears to have won over the professionals.

My dad played with all 3 of these guys and gave Husband his big break. He was never impressed with Holdsworth, however. Jazz musicians seldom were. Its the rockers that love him

It's as if he unconsciously chooses the least melodic notes he can within any given chord. Not to say it isn't melodic, but the way he strings them together is impressive to say the least.

I never realized how much of Zappas style of playing sounded like Holdworths! A sort of transcendental noodling. I remember seeing Zappa in an MTV interview where he noted AH as one of his fav guitarists.
