Great video! This provides the exact information you need to figure out how to identify what parts are required to replace a brake line. I bought brake line from Amazon labeled copper nickel, but its magnetic. The local parts store carries copper nickel that is not magnetic.

OK coming from the Master Cylinder... does it matter which lines are connected to the combo valve from the master its self? I have a custom application that has a very hard power brake pedal. The master bore is like 1 and 1/2 inches, way to large I am sure. It has all new brakes disc frt and drum rear. I think the combo valve may be hooked up with the lines going to the Como in the wrong location. It has been very frustrating. Thanks for any suggestions. I am changing to a 1 inch bore master and a new booster. I am thinking of buying one with everything (master, combo and booster and even a mount with the pedal for the correct ratio ) as a unit to assure everything is compatible and the lines on the master in the correct location to the combo. Suggestions, ideas??? THX.

I’m a retired mechanic and have been told to never use copper for brake lines. Hydraulic pressures can approach 500 to 1000 psi when you slam on brakes. Copper tubing is not rated for that kind of pressure.

Hey Todd, Stumbled across your vid while trying to figure out the best master for my application. 1984 CJ7 with 76mm single piston big brake kit on front (88-91 Silverado 1/2 ton) and factory AMC20 drums in the rear, running 33" tires. The front brakes have always seemed to overpower the drums and kinda make them useless and pretty much impossible to lock up, even offroad. However on jack stands, all 4 wheels stop fairly simultaneously. Currently running an 8" dual diaphragm and 1" bore disc/drum master. But I've just ordered a disc/disc 1 1/8 inch bore to see if this helps send more volume to the rear. Am I on the right track? Edit: I should add that years ago, I had in hindsight what was probably a defective master cylinder causing rear drums to lock up entirely too quickly, and a brake company's tech department advised that I gut factory prop valve and add an adjustable prop valve on the rear line, which I did.

Can anyone tell me why on a jeep the rear distribution block has 1 line in and 3 lines out? I know 2 lines go to the brakes, but what for the love of god is the 3rd line for?

Hi Trev - What kind of Jeep do you have? Two of the ports are for the rear axle brake lines, the third is for a flexible hose that connects the block to the front to rear brake line.

Hi, can the first block(pre 70's gm) fail internally and allow excess air when manual bleeding to the front or rear's? Or can the hold off valve fail and allow excess air to the front's when bleeding? Last question , the hold off valve has the button at the back, that is that for?

Unfortunately you probably can't fit that in that car. How much vacuum does your motor create in idle? More vacuum and a larger booster is always better though.

Fantastic info sir. What are the Ford types? I want to do a rear drum to disc. Do I have have to go with something other then the stock I currently have?67 Mustang Gt, Big block, factory disc front , factory drum rear and mechanical brakes. Also, what is the block attached to the left rear axle with brake lines? Thank you very much for any feedback. Cheers from Motown.
@valeriemcclure7678
@valeriemcclure7678 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Robert! The block at the rear axel is just a splitter. Your best bet for your valve would probably be to use an adjustable proportioning valve. This would mean you would most likely need to make brake line modifications. Best of luck on your project. Give us a call if you need to update those brake lines! 614-557-3442

Hi good videos I have a 1992 GMC 3500 Sierra this front pads in the rear I redid the brakes in the front for the disc as I did this I did not remember that I had added fluid about halfway through the break cycle when I went to collapse the cup to get the new pads in it popped releasing fluid from the top of the container after I put the pads in put it back together now I'm getting a constant brake light warning on the dash and I do not think my front brakes are operating I believe that the proportioning valve sensed a leak my question is how to reset the proportioning valve back to the Middle where it does not trigger the light and allows fluid to flow to the front brakes any help would be fantastic as I'm a one-man band just trying to stay alive out here

My 70 SS 396 El Camino power front disc setup does not have a rear proportioning valve. The car was Ziebarted when new, the rear valve should be mounted near the rubber line. The long brake line from the front shows no evidence of ever being touched or removed. The crossmember shows no evidence of a valve ever being mounted either. Talked to InLine tube today, they only show the rear lines with the proportioning valve in their books. My car was an Jan 1970 build at the Van Nuys plant... it seems to be a unicorn. I'm trying to get more info so it can be properly repaired/set up
