This was Iqbaal Qaasim's Test debut. The game was drawn when Australia needed 24 runs and Pakistan, 4 wickets. Australia won the next by 348 runs before Pakistan struck back in the final Test, drawing the rubber 1-1. Mushtaq Muhammad also drew the next rubber Down Under 1-1 a couple of years later, joining his brother Haneef Muhammad as the only two captains to have returned from Australia undefeated. Iqbaal Qaasim returned the best bowling figures (4/84) in the presence of stalwarts like Imraan Khan, Serfraaz Navaaz and Mushtaq Muhammad himself.
