Canary in the cave comes to mind. What if birds getting sick is a sign our environment is being poisoned?

It's sad to see the absolute destruction of smaller native animals numbers in The bush buy the dingos that have gone unmanaged from places like this an absolute tragedy
@alannahjones9043 Жыл бұрын
The strongholds of the critical weight range mammals are almost entirely in areas where dingoes have not been persecuted. This is because dingoes keep foxes and to a lesser extent cats, out of those areas. In fact dingoes are our best defence against 5 of the 22 key threatening process to the Australian bush listed under the EPBC act (feral cats, foxes, feral goats, feral pigs and rabbits) dingoes don’t need to be managed. They ARE the management.

A lot of these "new" techniques are actually old techniques that we were using and still use in our cattle business.

I'd like to suggest including my Book in the list - it is based in Western Australia. Nicole Y Chalmer (2021) Ecoagriculture for a Sustainable Food Future. CSIRO Publishing. Looks at ecological history to present of food production systems- we can and should learn from Indigenous food systems.

Another bloody alarmist I am afraid I would not use Tim Flanery as a reference???? Even Flannery should know Nature changes climate and as yet there is no imperical data on mans contribution just opinion & speculation. The agromomists Agronomist is Dr William A Albrecht who had no band wagon to push except working with nature
Great stuff Dean, thanks for all you are doing for climate and nutrient dense food. From what we 've learnt from Dr Elaine Ingham the AEROBIC soil organisms are the beneficial actors which build structure ,decompose litter into humus ( which holds water) and deliver the minerals in your sands, silts and clays to the plants, in plant available form. That leads to well fed plants which resist pest and disease. At Merri Bee Organic farmacy we are practicing organic farming (up the road from you in Nannup), using rotational grazing with 9 species of livestock, and using fungal dominated vermicast compost teas and solid applications. Compost ingredients in the form of green waste is our only input besides perennial pasture seeds of many types. We run a soil course once a year , have written a book and sell compost.....in a very dry location , so swales also have been fantastic. Hope to meet you one day, I think we could save you money.

Are we as farmers and people in denial or are agri-corps and agri-science trying to keep us ignorant to support and expand their profits???
@beewinfield4 жыл бұрын
Some are in denial, some remain ignorant and believe what the corporations want them to, and others are farming better and achieveing better landscape function and great profits.
