Within the next couple of years. between the rules favoring passing and the added game to the schedule with potentially another being added. If Jefferson can stay healthy I think he'll do it, especially if Addison can build on a very strong rookie season. There's probably 5-6 talented enough to do it right now, it comes down more to the coaching and scheme giving them the opportunity.

Decent approach. Being who I am I'll point out what's wrong with it though: your view of "teams" is both too broad & too narrow. It includes the Entire Roster? But not play-callers? Dave Canales helped Baker Mayfield regain his career just like he did with Geno Smith. The Jags & Seahawks went the other way. All these teams changed play-callers. This is why i never buy any BS that merely switching play-callers is any excuse. It means that the _play-caller_ doesn't know wtf they are doing. If their respective play-callers haven't changed then Justin Herbert & Jalen Hurts are doomed to another under-whelming season. If the way he sabotages other teams' offenses means he _can scheme_ offenses himself, the Seahawks are gonna go far in the playoffs with their new HC. Either Andy Reid makes a difference or he can be replaced by Adam Gase. Not sure what you guys plan on doing with this channel but I recommend at least trying to get a bit more analytical if you're going to raise questions that can be answered by doing so because why not make suggestions? You can completely ignore them. I'm really asking you to think about where you're going with this.
@FranchiseTagged
@FranchiseTagged 12 күн бұрын
I 100% agree with you, but my knowledge of playcallers is very very low so I chose not to delve too deeply into an aspect of the game where I don’t have a wealth of knowledge. The point of the video was more to say that any team has the potential to be a good team in the current NFL because the talent level league wide is so high, not at all to say that there won’t be any bad teams. Playcallers will 100% affect the quality of play from any team and that’s another thing that can lead to a team being bad that I simply don’t have the expertise to dive into that aspect. I’ve only been analytically looking at the league for a single year now, before this it was purely “wow throw ball go far coooooolll” if that makes sense. I definitely appreciate the criticism and I’m working on expanding my knowledge anywhere I can.

In Week 2 I could tell that they were running _none_ of the plays they were running in '22. About week 12 I discovered that yes indeed Doug Pederson handed off the play-calling to the OC Press Taylor. Sorry, but this doesn't require a multi-part series. Either Andy Reid affects outcomes or you can replace him with Adam Gase. Play-calling affects _EVERYTHING._ Good QB play followed Canales to Tampa Bay & suddenly the same receivers Geno surprised everyone with last season couldn't run the right way on any routes this season nor could he connect to the 2 new ones. Almost identical to what happened to the Jags.
@FranchiseTagged
@FranchiseTagged 12 күн бұрын
Play calling is extremely important, but as someone who had limited access to viewing Jaguars games throughout the past few seasons, it wasn’t something I was super in tune with for this team. The Dave Canales story is definitely one I caught onto, and I am very interested in the turnaround from a Frank Reich Team, a coach who has served his tenure and shown his flaws, to a coach who is on the up and coming and what Canales can do for Bryce Young
@ChewsCarefully
@ChewsCarefully 12 күн бұрын
@@FranchiseTagged That's fine. No pressure. This was a roundabout way of getting at whether it's something you know about. Me, I don't know what the plays are called, but I can see things regardless & only returned to watching the NFL *because* I found channels that do look into that aspect of things. Take kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3uyYoOpqtV5lbc for instance. If you actually count how many times each QB is off by inches or miles, Fields' college footage is _WAY_ better than that of Caleb Williams. People try to dismiss this as saying "anyone could succeed with _that_ roster." Well Burrow Had JaMarr Chase in college, no? Amazing how people stick to their memes despite evidence. Knowing the effects of play-calling can help determine what you're looking at. Did Fields become timid & regress or did the Bears _REALLY_ do a number on him? & also, you'd have known what went wrong in JAX this past season.

One bit of constructive criticism: the background mess looks like your bedroom (which it probably is), but makes the video seem too amateur - especially considering that your audio and analysis are both spot on. I ask this questions whenever I hear someone say Ridley was an overpay and no1 responds. Everyone quotes that 96mil when in reality it was, 10m, 28, then either cut for 10 or keep for 26. It was a 46mil deal unless he balls out like crazy and they decide to keep him. What would be a fair deal for him in your opinion? Edit: titans are still estimated to have 50mil in cap space next year before rollover and the usual more than expected cap bump. Not sure that matters to you but thought I would put it out there.
@FranchiseTagged
@FranchiseTagged Ай бұрын
In my opinion giving a 29 year old WR who is coming off a season where he was easily WR1 in an offense with an elite QB and barely posting 1000 yards 46 million dollars of guaranteed money is an overpay. Face value of 23 a year is a WILD overpay but even if you don’t look at the full contract and you assume that they’re gonna cut him (then why give him that long of a contract) it’s still an overpay because he’ll be 30-31 when his cap hit is 28 million. If he’s bad it’s an overpay no matter what you give him. If he’s good, you can’t cut him so it’ll be an overpay because you’re giving out that full contract. I still did mention that I like them putting talent around Levis, I just think that his contract is a bit much for his age and current production. Edit: whoops forgot the fair deal question, I think Jakobi Meyers is on Ridley’s level, he’s only 27 and was just over 800 yards as the clear 2 in the raiders atrocious offense, he signed a 3 year $33 mil deal last offseason and yes money has changed and cap space has changed but going from 11 a year to 23 a year for the same production just doesn’t seem like a good move.
@ChewsCarefully
@ChewsCarefully 12 күн бұрын
I understand what the Titans are doing. Both their old GM J-Rob who was running things like he was the son of the owner & Vrabel both seem to have done things that ruined their rep *among players.* So they're trying to change that as well as say "we're willing to spend $ to win." But Ridley still seems like an overpay. He hasn't returned to form. It's as simple as that for now. They _should_ use him differently than how the Jags who failed him did, but we don't _know_ that yet.

Swapping Hunter for Greenard has to work out, keeping Aaron Jones in the north is a great decision, and the draft may look great on paper but it came at the cost of a LOT of future picks, moving up from the 2nd to 23 and then again from 23 to 17, it’s risky but if it all pays off it’ll be looked back on as a masterclass for sure.

@@FranchiseTagged Hunter for Greenard cost less and they got a younger player. Van Ginkel and Turner provide a pass run rotation. Jones will mentor younger players at the position. They now have talent at almost all positions and 100+ cap space next year to fill in gaps with veterans.

I’d actually argue they had one of the worse offseasons in the league, not the worst, but not great. Kicking Aaron Jones to the curb after all he’s done for them is diabolical, losing savage to add McKinney is a slight step up? But even then, keep the guy who knows the system IMO. Drafted well enough, maybe a slight reach in the first but good picks in the 2nd with cooper and Bullard, but then a RB in the 3rd? After signing Jacobs? In a division that’s undeniably becoming one of the strongest (Vikings gonna Viking) in the NFL, they didn’t do enough to move the needle for me. If they do well next season and make it further, it’ll be off the back of Jordan Love’s continued breakout and the receiving weapons getting better, not the moves made this offseason. (Also, Jordan Love needs a new contract and if he keeps this up money will be very tight in the near future)

@@FranchiseTagged Getting off of an oft-injured running back approaching 30 for one 3 years younger and also led the league in rushing just 2 seasons ago is diabolical? Hilarious and you can’t be serious saying that McKinney is a slight step up from savage is joke when darnell has been inconsistent at best his entire career, including a benching a couple of seasons ago. And we got a new coordinator so there’s a gonna be a new system anyway, we’re literally switching from a 3-4 back to a 4-3. And the need for a backup was there considering the fact that we had to rely on AJ Dillon most of the year last year which was an unpleasant experience and offers more versatility to our offense. Through free agency and the draft, we added high impact players and depth to a roster coming off of nail-biting loss to the Super Bowl runner up in the second round putting us in prime position to be a contender next year. To ignore that shows bias on your part considering one of you guys are Lions fans. Also, Jordan’s contract will be taken care of soon, don’t worry about cap space, this front office always knows how to add good players every season whether through the draft and or finding low cost gems such as Rasul Douglas and Devondre Campbell in recent years

My age is a big factor, I didn’t see half the guys touch the field, but the premise of the video stays mostly the same. I think if I were to redo the video I’d do a bit more research into the guys I hadn’t seen and find more of a consensus grade on others. I tried not to take team into account, especially for players who went on to blossom elsewhere but it’s tough to defend someone being a top 3 pick when they didn’t pan out for the team that drafted them. Also Denzel Ward was one of the toughest players to decide on, ultimately I decided he had a bit too wishy washy play that it’d be a stretch to call him green. I definitely appreciate the insight and hope you got something out of it despite the grades.
