This video does nothing to redeem Crowe's singing imo. While he could never come to close to my favourite Javert: Philip Quast (or even Roger Allam), I simply dislike Crowe's voice. If someone else likes the sound of his voice, great! Thank goodness I have the Dream Cast 1995 recording to listen to.

I have a tattoo on my right shoulder - a waving red banner with “Do you hear the people sing?” written across it. Les Miserables was the first musical I ever experienced (5 years old- for some reason mum was upset!) and this song in particular has been one a lifesaver for me many times ❤

Thank god for youtube. Just done exactly the same as so many comments below. Heard in the 'Les Miserables: Do you hear the people sing: Sung by 17 Jean Valjeans from around the world' and your short but brilliantly strong and powerful voice especially over the what seems the band got even louder so you really had to sing loudly yet so clear drew to thinking the power of youtube will fine this chap. There are different kinds of singing and everyone has different kinds of doing singing. That is different shapes of art. Russell does very well despite he is not a musical actor.
