Guys. You can't rip off or steal a Chord Progression, tempo or vibe. A song is lyrics and the melody associated with them. This is a simple I - IV chord progression. It's not owned by Matthew... or Taylor. It belongs to everyone who plays music. It has been and will continue to be used to wtite an infinite number of songs. Wonder why Matthew didn't Sue Taylor? Just ask the Marvin Gaye estate, who took Ed Sheeran to court for this exact thing, and lots their pants in the process.

Did this dude get any royalties from Taylor Swifts Dear John?

Check your dates. Speak Now dropped in in 2010. This dropped in 2009. Does he get royalties from TS? Typical Swifty...lol.

@@seanbenak8316 "Does he get royalties from TS?" you're saying just the same thing as the "Typical Swifty" you're replying to. OP clearly knows that this came first so is asking if the billionare lady ever paid royalties to this group when her song came out later. Remember to *read* what you're replying to before saying anything.

I love discovering new music (okay...old music that I have not yet heard). This is a beautiful song and respectfully, it is one that I could have easily mistaken for a U2 melody only because Matthew Perryman sounds like Bono.

Dear John and the narrative that she wrote Speak Now solo make me respect TS as a songwriter. Hearing this blatant theft of a song (and not even an old song, an active artist) is just one more thing that has made me realize she's an even bigger fraud than I had realized.

Rainy bodega roses The shop never closes They change shifts at dawn Even in the smallest hours Fresh cut red flowers But you just walk on My love, my grey-eyed City child We could've grown wild We could've grown wild But this is what we chose The endless night The bodega rose Odd shadows of trees in the park Claim the darkest dark While we sleep Tangled beneath the covers Tangled in each other And try to dream deep My love, my grey-eyed City child We could've grown wild We could've grown wild But this is what we chose The endless night The bodega rose Silence is wedded to sound That comes up through the ground Singing for us But few things moves us like before Nothing anymore Is what it once was My love, my grey-eyed City child We could've grown wild We could've grown wild But this is what we chose The endless night The bodega rose My love, my grey-eyed City child We could've grown wild This is what we chose The endless night The bodega rose And it was no kind of test We just chose the loneliness We bore the best

Used to listen to this song, knowing for a fact I have never found that girl. Never actually thought that I would ever find someone that from the bottom of my soul I know she's the one. From the first word exchange, I found my woman. We found each other. I'm her man. So Ray, I really really wish the woman for you finds you man... This song meant a lot, and still means a lot. Thank you so much for the love that's in every moment of this beautiful divine song.

Amelia Matthew Perryman Jones Sad like a melody Full like a symphony Striking a chord Standing here looking blind I stumble around to find My way through your door Do you want to know why? Do you want to know why? Hungry as starving fire Killing to feed desire What do you do? We're born into vanity Bones feeling everything Are we alone? Do you want to know why? 'Cause I want to know why? X2 Say it Amelia Say it's true That life's worth all the dying we do Amelia A beautiful melody Sung by a symphony You're striking a chord

There's this thing called sampling pretty sure lol... Taylor didn't steal anything you can't really expect her to search up every single damn song with the same chord progression. She definitely wrote her song so the same chords are used big deal 😒😒
