Loved it. Very good melody, singing, and instrumentals, and the lyrics are quite funny and right on point!

What a beautiful song and what a beautiful rendiition Emily Smith does. She is an astonishingly good performer and I have really enjoyed listening to her music ever since I heard her sing 'Caledonia' which I heard years ago, and loved the song and her performance immediately.

They should do more of these collaborative works, as great as these artists are individually (and they are), there is something truly magical that happens when they all pull together and learn and fine tune each other like this.

There's a sweetness in Emily's accordion playing that I've not heard from anyone else. I don't know how she does it. I love Phil Cunningham of course, but something about Emily's expression goes right through me.

Oh I wish that I believed if only for you In a Sweet Ever After beyond the blue In an Eternal Father who after the fall Cast us all out of the garden But I've found an Eden I can believe in Leavened with nothing but time There is grandeur in this view of life Where one becomes many through struggle and strife But the mother of mysteries is another man's call Why is there something instead of nothing at all Why is there something instead of nothing at all If the devil's own chaplain is leading the prayer From a book that's been written with sorrow and care Then his hand is indifferent but it isn't unkind There's no evil design in his sermon For I hear a chorus of those gone before us Scored upon pages of stone There is grandeur in this view of life Where one becomes many through struggle and strife But the mother of mysteries is another man's call Why is there something instead of nothing at all Why is there something instead of nothing at all What an utter desert is a life without love Would that your blessings alone were enough To abandon my doubt in the veil of your tears Oh my dear how the fabric has fallen Now I’ve seen an Eden I can believe in Free from the master's design There is grandeur in this view of life Where one becomes many through struggle and strife But the mother of mysteries is another man's call Why is there something instead of nothing at all Why is there something instead of nothing at all Songwriters: Mark Erelli / Karine Polwart

I've been enjoying this album for several years now. I still love it when these songs come up in my playlist. This one, which seems to be a conversation between Darwin and Emma - expressing the heartfelt beauty of evolution, could be the "anthem" for athiests, if such a thing could exist. It's so beautiful and peaceful and reverent and states some key ideas. I can't thank you enough for this musical work. I also enjoy Dr. Stephen Baird and the Galapgos Mountain Boys songs. A different style but so fun for evolutionists and science fans. I'm going to share this song today for Darwin's birthday. It's the best.

I have written it before, but I will write it again: Emily's voice is like an aural tranquilizer; listening to it one can feel the tension slipping away. 11/25/2016

He actually plays this regularly, if you know his music. It is a Fylde (make) Octavius (model range) Bouzouki (actual model). Not made any longer according to the website instrument lists, but they have one for sale at www.fyldeguitars.com/obouzouki.html

I discovered this song a few days ago, as I was coming back from a business trip. I was alone in my car driving back from the airport, some random radio was playing, and this aired. And I have every bit as thankful to those girls as I do now...

Yes, I ended up doing the same thing- just wished I sounded even a fraction as good as Emily does- if you haven't heard it- A Silver Tassie is also really beautiful when she sings it- thanks for replying

"there is grandure in this view of life" finally someone worked this beautiful quote into a song. GREAT JOB! Darwin would be proud :) I have been working on a song regarding evolution for a year now, and i just can't do it justice. I really appreciate what you have done here.
