Nice amp! I was (and still am for the most part) a diehard Onkyo fan. I own one of the predecessors of this model you're showcasing in the video, a TX-8555, and I absolutely love it for our two channel system. Overbuilt, like Onkyos used to be, with a thick anodized aluminum front panel and heavy machined volume knob. This thing actually performs like a good integrated amp that just happens to have a tuner built in. The only things I don't like about it are the lack of a loudness button and no tape monitor loop to connect an EQ. I was using a TX-SR605 in our 5.1 home theater, and loved it, but it developed a bad HDMI out port; I recently replaced it with a Denon AVR-X2800, but I much prefer the sound and operation of the Onk. This model in your video has been replaced by the 8140, I think it is....

Good morning. It appears that someone took advantage of Amazons black Friday deals! You have some reviews coming up! I'm looking forward to them. I picked up some Polk es15's and a Fosi audio P3 pre amp. I'm having some fun putting them in and out of my listening areas. Early verdict is they both bring a lot to the table. I have an older Onkyo AVR in my home office set up and really enjoy the sound. It has a different sound compared to my class D's and I enjoy them all. When you review your new Onkyo 2 channel, please compare it to your class D's and let us know what you hear. Blessings my friend.

Greetings @PhillyBosoxFan I’m not sure about the Black Fridays Deals, I did pick up a few things, but nothing that I’ve done a review on yet. I can say that from my past experiences, I have found that many Class D amplifiers are not as soft or smooth as Class AB or Class A, but with that being said, the Fosi P3 playing through the Polk ES15 should give you clarity and smoothness. I really like that P3 with a lot of things. That’s just my take on Class D in general vs Audio Receivers. Blessings to you and your Family.

My powered subs buzzes when I connect to my rca to my av receiver any idea why? Also as soon as I connect even if the volume is down it's hums
@Viewmydesktop4 күн бұрын
Greetings @19SelfMade87; without knowing and maybe having the same receiver and subwoofer, to maybe have had a similar experience, I will talk about the experiences that I have had. I’m also going to assume that you have an always on subwoofer and the hum is coming from your receiver to your sub. The two times that I have heard a hum coming from my subwoofer, I replaced the RCA cables with better cables with good shielding and both times the hum problem was solved. I will also say that on subwoofer connections using High Level inputs, I didn’t hear a hum using that type of connection, so that may also be a solution, if that is an option for you. I would be glad to hear if anyone knows a better solution then this. I hope this is helpful for you.

Good morning. It's good to see the flurry of activity from your channel lately! I'm looking forward to your speaker comparison . I checked out the amplifier chip set that is used in these units. It is the TI TPA3116. which is a decent enough chip at lower power but its level of distortion increases as the volume goes up. I am familiar with this chip from the Fosi Audio bt20-a amp, using this chip and returning it for the bt20-a pro, which uses the TI TPA3255. For anyone on a budget that wants an amp that will allow for upgrades to other components over time, like speakers, DAC's, streamers and such, an amp like the bt20-a pro is a strong component because of that chip. Distortion is significantly reduced and it is upgradeable both in power supply to 48 volts/10 amps and the ability to change op amps. I just did this with different op amps recently and it went from a really good sounding amp to an awesome sounding amp. When on sale, the difference in price is only about $20 from this one. Just my thoughts. Thanks again for the effort that you put in!

Greetings @PhillyBosoxFan ;I've been under the weather for a few days, so I’m just getting a chance to respond. I can say that I’ve found similar results working with these chips, I think a side by side on some of these amps may need to be in an review in the future. When I was just starting out, I could only do single reviews mostly, and a few setups, but hopefully next year, I would like to expand in to more direct side by side videos. I do now have some equipment now to test side by side based on my listening. Please stay with me, and continue to add to the channel. People like you really help me with ideas and support, and I THANK YOU
@PhillyBosoxFan4 күн бұрын
@Viewmydesktop sorry that you have been under the weather but glad your back. I appreciate your channel because, like me, you have been on a quest to find affordable gear that can be pleasing to the ear. I have learned a great deal from many of the audio channels, even the ones that spend more on their hifi than others spend on a mortgage payment...yes I'm chuckling and more power to them if they have the means to do it. I know I do not. The way they manage their speaker and sub placement, room contents, types of connectors, etc are still somewhat applicable, even at the level of my gear. Other channels like cheapaudioman are where I learned about finding gear that delivers 80 to 90% of the performance of much more expensive equipment as well as terms to describe what I am hearing. Then there is the hunt. This is the fun part. Thrift store CD and occasionally equipment finds. Amazon sales, Craigslist and eBay to name a few. Most recently, a Kenwood AVR from the early 90's that retailed for over $1000 back then, for $9.99... It sounds amazing in 2 channel and I will be having it cleaned and tuned up after the first of the year. That will be in the garage workshop along with other sweet sounding "old stuff"! I am just now wrapping up the most difficult stretch of a long shoulder repair process. I have been a captive audience and this hifi hunt has been, and will continue to be great therapy. Your approach and the obvious enjoyment that you get from finding and sharing the finds with others is very much appreciated and I look forward to following your sonic adventures!
@Viewmydesktop4 күн бұрын
@PhillyBosoxFan your contribution is tremendous, and just like you have said the hunt is a lot of fun, I have been a little fortunate lately to be able to review some equipment, I’m not sure if I will start to review some of the used vintage equipment I have come across, I’m still thinking about that part for now. But I do enjoy hearing about great finds like the one you mentioned. I've had a few thing from Kenwood. I also watch many channels and I’m still learning so much from them, mostly due to the fact that there is so much to review. I both enjoy making and watching reviews, and I’m really glad to have people like yourself as part of the quest.

Greetings @RickRuizAudio ; and no I did not connect this Amp to a 36 volt power supply, this is in a medium size room and it get loud enough to fill the room out, with the 32 volt. I use this DAC paired with my digital sources including the Wiim Mini streamers and CD/DVD players and play them through class D amps like the Fosi bt20a pro and RSL ia 255.1. Both around the $100 price range. The speakers are all older and ranged from about $150 to $400 when new, so not crazy expensive but not below $100. They can all be found on ebay at times and if in good condition are awesome options instead of new speakers for the same price. The SMSL SU-1 is a considerable bang for the buck because they crafted a very good analog output that punches well above it's weight! Nice pick up and thanks for sharing!

Greetings @elmanguilimotan9906 I was taught that Watts = Volts x Amps and on the Amplifier it has DC 12 Volts and 5 Amps and AC 90-240V, but on the Ad it says 100W or 100 Watts. I have no idea where that number comes from, maybe some crossing measurements, but I see stats like this on many products today. Good morning. I appreciate your quest to find affordable hifi gear! I am also on that journey and it is fun in itself. Enjoyable music is a gift that can continue to give...if the gear works. I was surprised to see that they are powered speakers. $49 and folks are still making money selling them. Getting what you pay for shines brightly here. You steering people away from these is a good thing. Your reviews of far better, and affordable speakers from Neumi, Micca, Sony, Polk and Elac (sub) are an awesome service to those whose dollars are spread thin! Open box and returned stock offers additional potential savings here. Are you starting to see a price level, where going below it, is truly a waste of hard earned money? Keep up the search...peace to you as well.

Greetings @PhillyBosoxFan ,and Thank you for your support I really do appreciate you support and you’re taking the time share your comments with us here. I did order another set to give these speakers a second chance, due to these getting many positive reviews. Someone also reached out to me and I will discuss that in my upcoming review. And when we look at price level, I would say that everyone has the right to set their own price, but I believe that at a certain price point there are thing you should expect, and in my opinion, somethings do not meet that level. I do have speakers that give less, but they also cost less, and I still would say that there worth the asking price. So I’m satisfied as long as I get value for my dollars, sometimes you just have to search for it.

@@Viewmydesktopyour response is why I follow your (temporarily) smaller KZbin channel along with many of the much larger channels! I do this in an effort to approach my renewed love of music affordably as I am now retired and on a relatively fixed income and want to see as much info as possible before purchasing. No complaints by the way...retirement is awesome! But fixed income is new and requires a different approach. You are giving these speakers a second chance. Nicely done! I believe you are using Amazon for your purchases, also nicely done as they have a great return policy and that makes a huge difference when taking a chance on Chinese manufactured products. If they are ordered directly from China based sites there is a much more difficult path for returning goods for refund or exchange. Crutchfield also has a great return policy but their gear tends to start at a higher point. I am reading into your approach and encourage you to voice that approach to your viewers. Strategy has many layers and your channel is reaching folks that may not watch other channels. Keep it up my friend, and thanks for putting in the effort!
