Don’t you need to add oil to the left compartment? It’s shallow but when I lifted mine, I saw some oil absorbing string (I see yours has them too) hanging down on that left side, too.

Great tutorial. I just started sewing 🪡 (1&1/2 years ago) and I want to Master coat/jacket making. I’m taking online classes and teaching myself Bespoke tailoring and this was full of inspiration and great advice. Funny, I just cut out a pattern for a coat (Burda 7142 view B) and I took a break, before starting to sew and stumbled upon this video. Very, very helpful. Thank you so very much. I’m subscribed.

It sounds like you have a needle feed/compound feed machine which is different from a walking foot machine or a straight stitch machine.

i have a White, older than yours, it was donated, still working on it to use for running volunteer teaching. i love the old machines, don't have a clue about machines with computer parts, i only use the mechanical ones. i have 4 kenmores , singers & a couple of brothers, plus 1 morse. funny you mentioned cars. my old blue 1970's kenmore i call 57 chevy because when i first seen it in a thrift store the thought that entered my mind was there used to be a 57 chevy around town the exact same color

We do use lots of stuff don't we, but the right tool can make a huge difference.... if you can find it when you want it. Lol. It's really too bad about your industrial not being able to do zippers because they seem to do them so well compared to domestic machines because the feet are so narrow. I'd love to have a narrow zipper foot for my babylock.

Your White sewing machine bought back so many memories for me. I have that same exact machine which I purchased with my first paycheck when I started my new job to make my wardrobe working in a professional environment back in 1990….lol. After being transferred out to a field office 10 years later one of my coworkers took me to a shop where she had her machine tuned up. There I fell in love with a Husqvarna Freesia and traded it in to purchase it. That night I couldn’t sleep and went to work and mentioned to my coworker that I was having remorse for letting that machine go. We went back to the shop to purchase it back cause I suffered miserably for trading it in. When we went back to the Sew and Vac shop the owner said it was a good machine that he gave it to his wife. He said that his wife really likes the machine but he understood and that he would get back from her. We left the shop empty handed and I thought if his wife fell in love with it I would never get it back. A week later my supervisor surprised me with it when I came in to work. She said she called everyday to get my machine back because she knew how attached I was to it. To this day I still have this machine and love it even more. They don’t make machines like this. I love vintage machines. Glad to see you’re still using this type of machine. Happy Sewing!

i love this. i want to get a very nice lace with bright coral stone, sea life embroidering and this pattern would look great...but i am not good with sleeves...want to try frill or handkerchief like sleeve so it can just cover my shoulder and arm hole to be discrete. This looks lovely on you.
