Slowed this down to .25 Playback speed to make sure you wrapped those receptacle screws and didn't stab them. Test passed. Nice table! Only thing I would've done differently is to explore raisable cubbies for each tool, in case you ever change one. Maybe 4 allthread posts, chain drive, and sprockets- something like that. This hinge set up works just fine too.

Due for second timing belt and water pump change. Got my 06 a year and a half ago at 96k but even at 201 it is still a baby. Mine has tackled every trail I’ve done in my built Jeep but I have built the 470 up a bit.

Thanks! Yeah, it seems like it has a lot of life left in it and feels better than newer vehicles we've owned. I'm looking forward to building it out further as the budget allows.

im pretty much in the same place. bought a 09 gx470 two months ago and restoring a lot of things on it due to old age. it is a cali truck, and as a resident of the east coast i could not believe that it had a 99% rust underside after all these years. looks like even rain water didnt touch it. it does have a lot of sun damage. i really wish i was old enough to experience this truck when it was brand new, it just feels so good regardless of its age. just finished putting on fresh black window molding shipped from UAE and now ready to paint the roof rack black. any ideas on how get rid of the chrome door handles?
@phillipreborn23 күн бұрын
Sounds like you found a good one. Yes, I agree. They feel really solid and smooth even compared to many newer vehicles. I definitely want to get black window moldings but I'm waiting until we paint it. I'm going to be scuffing and painting my door handles, which should work ok.

Not a criticism just a heads up.. When listening on headphones, only the left ear is producing any noise. Something wrong with your audio set up. That plus all of your voice overs you can hear your lips and tongue separating each time you go to talk.😶

Very well thought out. If you're still using this table, did you cut out the miter slots on your wood at discharge end of table saw? That's if you use a miter sled. Great idea to have an all in one work bench. Awesome job my friend. Steve

@gordjohn2322Ай бұрын
Sir, what you have created here is nothing short of amazing. It is plain to see you put a considerable amount of thought and planning into the project before you even touched the first piece of wood. You can be very proud of what you have created and here is a big 'THANK YOU' for sharing it with us. If you don't mind, I do have a couple of questions. 1) Now that you have had a chance to put your creation to use in actual shop conditions, what do you think if it? In other words, if you were to build another work bench, what, if any, changes would you make? Why? 2) How did you decide on the correct height of the work bench, measuring from the shop floor to the work surface? You will spend a great many hours standing at this bench, especially when you have all the tools put down and are just using it as a table. It needs to be built to your height so you're not 'stooping over' a bit which is a perfect recipe for back ache. I've seen a great many work benches built here on KZbin, but I've never seen anyone explain how they arrived at the correct height. Is there some 'special formula' that will give the correct table height according to how tall the operator is? I appreciate any advice you can give and again, THANK YOU for sharing this with us.
@philliprebornАй бұрын
Thanks for watching. I have a "2 year review" video addressing some of the changes I would have made. I think I determined the height by what would be a comfortable working height for accessing the infeed and outfeed of most of the tools.

I really love this design and as I am getting my 2 car organized for wood working, this may be what I am looking for! I did have an idea for the miter saw dust collection: build some sort of hood behind the tool and use the vac hose for it. I thought of that while watching as I am thinking...wait....I see an update video. I am gunna watch it then delete this if it covers that. lol
@philliprebornАй бұрын
That is a good idea. Miter saws really do need a hood style dust collection. Something collapsible like a tent comes to mind.

@jeromeromero75362 ай бұрын

@philliprebornАй бұрын
Thanks. If the planer was rotated 180 then the hose port would be facing the outside of the table which would require the hose to be ran on the outside.

Question: when you were using the router on the vent hose area, what was the razor blade for when you cut around the hole? Thanks.

I think I was trying to make a clean cut without the plywood tearing out the top layer. It was probably overkill.

@@phillipreborn Ok, that makes sense. I'm still learning and one big issue for me is keeping the router straight so it doesn't go over "the line" when cutting. I know there are jigs out there, but the jigs don't work on some cuts. Thanks.

Great workbench. Well thought out and versatile with a place for multiple tool. Would be overkill for my needs. I like the large work surface but I would only be needing the table saw and miter saw. I'm thinking though I could build a bench like that and add the other tools later. I have a small shed turned shop so I'd build mine to fold up against a wall. Very good work and video.

I bought one of these to bring down to Mexico. Found a 1-owner in outstanding condition with 305K miles on it. It has been the perfect truck for Baja. Had a brand new timing belt/water pump, thermostat, tires, and a bunch of other stuff but what sealed the deal was how well the original owner had babied the thing: The interior leather was in near showroom condition! Like, literally brand new. Now, they could have replaced the leather at some point but it is identical to the rear leather, which is certainly factory OEM. So, I'm inclined to believe it is either the original seating surfaces or a Lexus dealer replaced her front seats before she traded it in. Regardless, it had a 24 page CARFAX and she had basically been spending money on it every 8-9,000 miles since new. Suspension was replaced, transmission had been serviced every 120K miles, etc. I have no doubt I will get another 200K+ miles out of it, easily and few cars -- if any -- have every inspired the kind of confidence behind the wheel my GX470 does.

To make the dust easier to remove from your separator, you can just cut the bottom off of the current dust catcher, then slip the whole thing inside of another 5 gallon bucket. Then when you want to empty it, it's as simple as pulling the buckets apart and dumping it.
