What if you lost the old key

The N20 is the shittiest engine design from Bavaria. All kinds of problems that BMW knew about and did anyway, crowning achievement of planned obsolescence. Plastic valve cover, plastic timing chain guide, no freaking oil dip stick.

Just a reminder: negative battery cable comes off first when removing and goes on last when reconnecting. Pull fuel pump fuse and crank until engine quits to relieve fuel pressure before disconnecting battery. Minor bumps in otherwise fantastic video.! THANKS 🙏

Part 1 - no problems worked great. Part 2 - worked for me after a couple attempts, by skipping the step of pressing lock and unlock on the OLD key. After the 3 long power button presses, when I removed the old key and the door locks cycled, I went straight to pressing lock and unlock on the new key. That worked for me.

Question. I was looking at these videos on how to program a new Keyfob yourself, but that will only work if your current Keyfob is fully functional correct? Mine (silver logo, 2005) won't unlock the doors anymore, and won't start the car unless it's directly inserted into the key slot. There is no flashing key light in the dash anymore while the car is off now, either Assuming this likely means programming my own new Keyfob wouldn't work? (Battery in old fob has already been changed; it's not a fob battery issue)

What were the screws on the bottom?

The BMS leads that go to each module will have corrosion on the back surfaces that lie against each busbar. Don't neglect servicing them. Maybe some oxidizer on a Q-tip? I have to back and look at mine. I just kinda thought about that while watching this video.

Do all of this generation Prius have keyles entry on the door? I see they sell keys with and without entry.

6:42 Say, how can you turn the wheel like that (pushing and pulling the tie rod in/out)? Isn't the steering wheel locked? I just did mine but I couldn't turn the wheel like that. I assume the steering wheel was locked because I disconnected the battery before starting the job.

So I want to tell people a personal story that may impact you. Here it is. I had one key for my Prius. The casing (i.e. the plastic part) was falling apart. So I ordered a replacement case and switched out the electronics. Fairly simple…. except one BIG mistake. Buried inside the key housing is this little, flat, almost triangle computer chip. It is called the RFID chip. Apparently, this is a very common mistake. The upside is, without the RFID chip, you aren’t able to 1) Use the key while inserted into the slot 2) Program any other key So, if you have a set of keys that allows you keyless entry but doesn’t work when put in the slot, you are very likely missing the RFID chip. The fix? You HAVE to a dealer/locksmith. So…. try to not lose your RFID chip and/or let it break.

Hey My girlfriend wanted a Beemer. She got it with all the labor intensive procedures because they use a plastic gasket in a vital area covered over by everything. WTH This is an excellent tutorial. I’ve done plenty of mechanical repairs. I would definitely hire a certified mechanic like Igor. Are you in Jersey by chance.

you make some good videos, but jackin up the motor makes absolutely zero sense.. the tensioner pulley that is partially in the way of the bottom 14mm bolt is attached to the motor.. jacking up the motor will not help in this situation.. go get an offset 14mm box-end wrench, and make it easier on yourself that way.

Yeah getting everything out and cleaning is the easy part it’s putting back all those tiny ass screws that’s insanely difficult

Ack. The front right hub-bearing assembly starting wailing on my 2008 Prius with 135K miles. My mechanic spent an hour getting the rusted nut off and said the axle threads are stripped - gawd.

Do you know how to fix if the portafilter opening itself during brewing. It will moving and then sudden pressure bursting out. Tried changing silicone gasket and coarsen the grind but still the same.
