What a great song and Madison was exemplary. My 16 year old son’s high school a jazz ensemble played “Vehicle” at a concert they played in April. He plays saxophone and the 30 piece jazz band had the whole theater rocking and the audience had their jaws dropped by the power of that song. Beautiful job Jim, the Ides of March and Maddie♥

Have been put here 9 hours after this released. This kinda feels weird considering the above/below comment but the algorithm has sent me for a reason and I'm putting this in my favs playlist!

Here are the lyrics that Mingus wrote for this 1959 classic: Oh, Lord, don't let 'em shoot us! Oh, Lord, don't let 'em stab us! Oh, Lord, no more swastikas! Oh, Lord, no more Ku Klux Klan! Name me someone who's ridiculous, Dannie. Governor Faubus! Why is he so sick and ridiculous? He won't permit integrated schools. Then he's a fool! Boo! Nazi fascist supremacists! Boo! Ku Klux Klan (with your Jim Crow plan). Name me a handful that's ridiculous, Dannie Richmond. Faubus, Rockefeller, Eisenhower. Why are they so sick and ridiculous? Two, four, six, eight: They brainwash and teach you hate. H-E-L-L-O, Hello.

This (unexpectedly!) brought tears to my eyes. 1971 - my absolute favorite song! My first Love Jim and i danced to this song at every coffeehouse. We' d hear the horns and we'd be on the dancefloor! You still sound AMAZING and i still LOVE this song! Thank you for a lifetime of memories ❤❤❤ It's 2024 and im 66 now and I'm still feeling the earth move when i hear VEHICLE! ❤

I'm curious to know how the audio was recorded. All nice young people playing here, except that one old guy. He must be one of those 'valuable industry contacts' that DePaul used to tout in the promotional material for the Music School.

No…Jim did not know her. His awesome trombone player invited her to play an Ides song with him after the show for fun…and decided the NIGHT before that she could play for fun w/Ides at soundcheck. Jim liked her enthusiasm and playing and told her she was going to play in the show that night. He set it up in a fun way for the audience, but reality it truly happened that afternoon in a split quick minute that changed her life …and I know because I was there and had trouble breathing -at such an opportunity that Jim Peterik gave her. Jim, Tim, Dave and Ides are the greatest.
