How does the torch know when to switch from preheat to adding oxygen to cut? Is it programmed in based on thickness and material type? Or does it actively monitor things like surface temperature via pyrometer

Thickness and material type alone wouldn’t be as good as active monitoring bc depending on part geometry It might take more or less time to preheat the area prior to adding oxygen for cutting

37 years experienced on Messer and many other brands while moving about Metro Detroit as auto industry fab shops lost overtime or went under. Yes this is a very expensive machine requiring much co savvy plus above average outside the box thinking while programming. A dummy can't run this elate caliber rig.

Probably could. I believe you need to have 130amp consumables and a selection console to select nitrogen as the marking gas .
