I don't hear a significant difference. When it comes to caps, in my experience, what matters is the value, tolerance and reliability. I found that ceramic disc caps are not reliable enough for my taste, everything else is great.

Hello thanks for this video, greatly useful and passionate. The difference is not so much of the tone, speakers tubes and guitar is doing a lot more but.... My preferred are A and D. You are welcome if you have the exact caps references. I found A the be very pure warm and well balanced. The axial construction, better in the conduction than radial improving dynamic , shows a live experience, the 470pF lower value helps maintaining better bass spectre and warmth? Great A polyester capacitor! I found B more dynamic but harshy and making high frequencies distorsions.No way. I found C to have no definition no précison no warmth and less sustain and being too dirty. Ceramic looks like is not good to my ears? I found D Mica perfect to my ears, warm and well balanced as A, missing just a few bit of A dynamic and clarity (radial construction) but very close and compensating with even warmer tone maybe . Then E Mica is not so bad for sure and very near , a bit darker than D and loosing bit of dynamic clarity maybe. F Mica is not so far from E, more clean and straight maybe due to the 1000V rating but a bit darker, could fit bright amps maybe. G Sozo Mica is even darker than F but maybe has a slight better definition than F but they are so similar in tone. The 1000V rating is improving clarity and large spectre in the Sozo too but maybe is loosing dynamic brightness and clafity. Thanks for this video again

Very interesting and thorough comparison. In 2022 I bought a brand new Marshall 50 watt jvm all tube 50 watt amp. Temperature's been stable but free almost a year I couldn't use it and it wasn't a tube, it wasn't a resistor, but a silver Micah capacitor. When I turned on the amp no guitar would go through it but all you could hear is crackling. I think that's a real common sign. Put the engineer told me a capacitor shouldn't act go bad on a brand new amp like that but could have just been faulty soldering. I don't know.

really surprising: I was prepared to like the MOD and the TAD because I heard so many good things about them and the Accutronics has a bad rep. But I really liked the Accutronics best here; the MOD and TAD sounded boomy and lacked sparkle.

Interested to know what type of laser you are using. I have a 60w omtech co2. Looking to make some and was wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing some general settings. Thanks.
@ModulusAmps8 ай бұрын
I have a laser and a rotary engraver. I use the rotary one for the reverse plexi as it gives better results. Your laser supplier should have given you some example settings. But they depend on how well your laser tube is set up/operating.

Yes, due to the voltages involved it is not an instructional video and not something you should do unless you have worked on valve equipment before and understand the risks.

I just found out my Vox Pathfinder has a one-spring reverb. I always wondered why my 'Verb sounded so much differently than other people's.
@ModulusAmps10 ай бұрын
Yes. Not all tanks are the same and the circuitry to drive and recover the signal from the tank is different too, so you can't just swap tanks around willy nilly
@DerpRulesAll10 ай бұрын
@@ModulusAmps According to Vox, the tank I would need to upgrade it to a three-spring 'Verb is readily available. I just don't think it's worth it. My reverb sounds audibly different. I could always buy a Delay pedal if I wanted to sound more 'in-step' with everyone else.

Bearing ming you are using a Les Paul and the amp settings, that sounds pretty clean and un-farty for a 5E3 (I know, I have one too). Speakers mostly sound similar to me and given the chouice I'd probably go with the creamback neo for it's weight. I have one in a 2x12 with a cream and they sound surprisingly similar.
