How much fuel does it use? How much heat does it give out? What’s the cost comparison to using a more conventional heater? Did you get paid to make this or get the item for free? Feels like it’s not really a review tbh.

In technical terms, bioethanol fireplaces produce around three kilowatt-hours (kWh) of heat when the fuel gauge is fully open. To give you an idea of how hot this is, the average electric fire will generate around 2kWh of heat. In this way, if you own an ethanol fireplace, heat levels are not something you will have to worry about in the deep midwinter. If anything, you may find that a full flame is a little too hot for your tastes. Fortunately, the easily adjustable slider on the fuel box will allow you to reduce the strength of the flame as you desire.

This is indeed true. I bought bioethanol fireplace about 2 months ago. I live in a 130 cubic meter house. And at full gauge it becomes too hot. I turned it down to less than half and it was a pleasant temperature and the liquid remained burning well over 7h.

Hi. We have a large vaulted hall in the barn. We have underfloor heating but we have a fire when it’s very cold. Can we expect some heat from the fire - we appreciate it won’t be like the wood fire but some reviews say the heat output is very poor. We have a heat pump so this fire would improve our already green credentials! Many thanks.

I had a large (about 3'x3x2') Tudor-style brick fireplace in my cottage, with an open flue and chimney. On days when I could not be bothered to build and light a proper fire, I used a 1' wide bioethanol box in the grate instead. It does not heat as well as a wood or coal fire, ie, it's never going to be a 'roaring fire' but it will take the chill off the room and provide heat if you are seated nearby. If you do not have an open flue/chimney it probably provides even more heat.

Now that the energy crisis is here in the UK these are very practical and cheaper to run than gas. Very safe as it's totally enclosed, only refill it when cold. It's not just for show it really generates heat like the old coal fires used to do.

I have the same fire and it's brilliant. I can get over 5 hours heat from 1 litre and it heats the whole living room to 21 C . I bought a fan that sits on top and is operated by heat to move the heat around the room. I've found Polish ethanol to be the best for heat and no odour.

Hi, the main issue I have with a wood burning stove is the air pollution which is significant even on the latest eco design ones, so much so that the latest research suggests they should be sold with health warnings similar to those on cigarettes. What is the impact on air quality as a result of burning bioethanol?

Hi Emma, Perhaps surprisingly, this is a very common question that seems to confuse many people! In part, this could be because biofires are aesthetically pleasing appliances that can be mistaken for decorative pieces. Fortunately, they are much more than this. How much heat does a bioethanol fireplace give off in kilowatt-hours? In technical terms, bioethanol fireplaces produce around three kilowatt-hours (kWh) of heat when the fuel gauge is fully open. To give you an idea of how hot this is, the average electric fire will generate around 2kWh of heat.
