Was that a deliberate Freudian slip at the start saying "black... back again"?

I was born in mid-'72 and grew up watching Bob Hope's various TV specials, but my late father would regularly make comments about how he particularly didn't care for Hope. IIRC, it turned out that whilst my father was serving in combat in the Navy as a LTJG during the Korean War, Bob was supposed to make an appearance best part of a USO production nearby, but never showed. My father spoke fondly about the other celebrities that he may have seen during his tour of duty, but always seemed to hold a grudge towards how BH "bailing out". Meanwhile, it's great to see another clip of CNR that I was too young to be up that late to see at the time.

So underrated and under appreciated in his time. Scatman was directed by Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg and Milos Forman. Was in two films with Jack Nicolson. He had a music career before his acting career.

@@callofthewillman4469 pretty obvious. Kinda awkward, really. Funny, I recall Hope somewhat oddly doing AIDS commercial in the late '80s, asking for tolerance/acceptance. At the time, it was pretty aggravating to many.

Johnny.... legendary TV giant, but he didnt show much respect for one who was busting his ass as musician, actor, comedian and entertainer.. Why not start with how long he's been going...since 1925... 51 yrs to that NY show... Johnny Carson was where exactly before this TV deal.? Long forgotten and sadly, one of the most humble men who towers over Carson This was disappointing to watch. "Here I am, black again"!

Alien Air --- Mr. Crothers isn't forgotten, as long as he lives in our hearts. His smile, and gentle demeanor shows how a real man transitioned the fire of perhaps being under appreciated....he didn't seem to be bitter or angry despite the challenges. May he rest easy in Heaven with souls who love and appreciate him as he deserves.
