I thought the cat sat on the pedal when the machine started to run slowly without me pressing the pedal. Then I saw the smoke and pulled out the cord. It doesn't look exactly the same as yours but I hope it too contains a capacitor that I can simply remove. Thanks for a very informative video.

I have a pfaff 145 for the big projects like seat cushions, V berth cushions and such but I did see one punching through leather so that's an indication it's capable of it 😉 I just purchased one from Canada (1904). I'm in Seattle and can't wait to meet her 💃🥂
@Drottninggatan20179 күн бұрын
Actually, on these machines you should put the bobbin in so the thread comes out in a clockwise direction. You pull the thread and the bobbin spin clockwise. The opposite of what is claimed in this video. Later on, with the plastic bobbins, they put a small mark on one side of the bobbin. That mark should always be turned out. When you wind the bobbin, you turn the mark out, when you put the bobbin in the holder, you turn the mark out.

Thanks for that, but I'm sure I followed the instructions in the manual. I can't check as i no longer have the machine.

Hi thank you for your video, i’m wondering if you could answer a few questions, I have recently purchased one of these machines without the shuttle, i have bought one from eBay, the machine was sold as working well, however, I’m having difficulties getting the thread to pick up from the shuttle.. this is my second machine that I am working on, I’ve threaded up a shuttle before without difficulty, so could it be the wrong shuttle. It’s probably an obvious thing to know. But Could the wrong shuttle still fit, it came with a mixture of bobbins, some with a hole some with not, How do you know if you have a faulty shuttle, Thank you for your time. Regards Sue
@CurioByBSpokeDesigns9 күн бұрын
Without seeing it, it is difficult to say, but I would guess that it’s the wrong shuttle. I would look to see if the thread is going around the shuttle which may indicate if the timing is out. It could be something as simple as a bad needle. Or the needle not being in correctly.

Hi, I know that this is an old video, but if I'm really lucky you might be the be able to help. I have a Husqvarna Automatic 21E sewing machine, and I would very much like to have a buttonholer to go with it. What buttonholer would be compatible with mine, please? Can I use a Singer one that is made to go with zig-zag sewing machines do you think? Around my part of the planet, even the people that service my machine doesn't know about buttonholer, they are that rare. I've seen a fair lot of them (more than 10) made by Greist, but many more by/for Singer. With hopes of an answer, yours, Ann
@CurioByBSpokeDesigns28 күн бұрын
Yes, as long as the button hole attachment is made for a low shank zig zag machine, it should work.

@@CurioByBSpokeDesigns Hi, Thank you so much for your answer. You have no idea how appreciative I am for this. I'm going to start to find one as soon as I can, but not at 11.30 pm CET. I have no idea what a low shank sewing machine is, but I trust that you do. Thank You. Yours, Ann
@CurioByBSpokeDesigns28 күн бұрын
@@annlidslot8212 most domestic machines, such as most singers - apart from the slant shank machines, are low shank. Most industrial machines are high shank. There are some, such as Bernina, that have their own style of feet and attachments.
Hi. Great videos, thank you. I have a Novum sewing machine (model: Novum 2000) and there is a wee plate on the side which declares that it is made by the Janome Sewing Machine Company Ltd in Taiwan as designed and specified by the Novum Sewing Machine Company UK. I note you said that the 99’s did not have the more elaborate decals, but mine has the Lotus design. According to IMACS the serial number dates it to 1913.
@CurioByBSpokeDesignsАй бұрын
The lotus decals were only on the 66. Check your machine’s face plate - 99s have a flat faceplate while the 66 is shaped more like a D.
@Catsrule7Ай бұрын
@@CurioByBSpokeDesigns thank you for the reply. I did wonder if it was a 66 but was thrown by the serial number which said it was a 99. I bought it two weeks ago in a local charity shop for 20€ and the decals are in excellent condition, but I took it to my local sewing machine clinic for them to give it a full maintenance once over last week. It has a motor and light but perhaps this was an after addition. I also have another beautiful and perfect 99, serial number Y8381138 (3/2/31) which I bought from the same charity shop, also for 20€.

And did it all on this machine.
