Sharks are attracted to the splash..that's why he went after the paddle and not the boat ..but in a situation like this the only thing a person can do is keep going..paddle until ur arms fall off..and for petes sake NEVER fish from a boat like this...ur basically looking for an encounter..

Nature can be unforgiving. I almost died down a class 5 rapid in West Virginia. 1,000 other ppl that week made it safely but when our raft flipped, it got pinned under an 11 foot rock wall and my body was under the rock wall. I still have legitimate sensations of memory of what it felt like to drown and then just barely have enough energy left for one last kick of your legs to get out. I’ll never again fuck with nature. Never.

I like how he paddles much faster like it would have any impact what so ever on getting away, if the shark wanted to have another try. The shark lost interest, you would have to paddle a lot faster than that mate if it never, try 50mph plus next time and you should just about be ok lol

I think a lot of people are forgetting that fish are kinda stupid. My guess is that the shark saw the splashing of the paddle as a struggling animal at the surface and reaction bit it. Similar to how top water lures work. At no point did it think about getting the person in the kayak, nor did it probably even know that there was someone in the kayak.
