What type of leather is this? It looks very soft. Where did you buy it? I can't sculpt with the spoon as easily as you do
@Kanatitza2 жыл бұрын
Hello! The leather is vegetable tanned and I bought it from a trader in Bulgaria. Have you tried to moisturize the skin more so that you can work with it more easily?
@Noster9202 жыл бұрын
@@Kanatitza I've tried adjusting the water content in the leather a lot, but it doesn't seem to help. My modeling spoons always seem to either 'scratch' it or resist being sculpted as easily as yours

Hey, how do you transfer all of your designs onto the leather before carving? I've tried using tracing paper, but the wetness of the leather makes it want to roll up
@Kanatitza2 жыл бұрын
Hello! First I moisturize the leather. Then I wrap it in stretch foil and only then I put the picture with the design. This way it stays dry and outlines easily

I am amazed. I thought it was impressive how you molded and shaped the image instead of using a hammer. It seemed to be the Tai Chi of leather craft. The zen quality of this works is hypnotizing. I will definitely be trying these techniques in some of my own work.
