Hello - is it possible to grow from the flowerpot?
@MJDWildlifeGarden4 күн бұрын
Hi, I haven’t tried in pots but one thing I would say is that once the spidery legs are spread they are quite wide (like over 30cm) so you might only get one into even a large pot. I’m all for experimenting though. Good luck :)

Your Eremurus is stunning! So envious. Just attempting planting these now in the midwestern U.S. - fingers crossed! Tried once before and didn't have luck. Unfortunately many of the suppliers shipping to this area do not send out plump, healthy roots. It seems they are more popular in the UK, as I've not found one actual live plant in a local nursery center here, and bare roots are hard to come by.

Thanks so much!! I really am in love with these plants, and the first time I’ve grown them last year. That’s a shame they’re hard to come by, I did see one person soaking the routes in seaweed feed enriched water before planting, but no idea of that helps tbh. I wish you all the luck!!!

What a wonderful tour! Thank you. I’m really impressed with the evolution of garden spaces in urban settings. Even in my own city the design has taken on greater awareness of ecology and climate changes. I visited NYC a few years ago and was blown away by what they’ve accomplished on the High Line. Thanks again!

I would love more space for growing roses. I only have a small garden so as I love scent and colour after to be more picky. So Lady sharlott was very similar to my Lady Emma Hamilton which won over the none scented Lady sharlott. LEH has colour with its beautiful pinks & oranges and amazing scent. Gave my brother any roses that were less of a favourite. I have Boscobell, Basheba, PAOK Sweet Juliett, Shropshire lad, Generous Gardener, Dame Judy Dench, Poets Wife a must absolutely gorgeous colours and smells. Gabriel oak, Emily Bronte, Bring me Sunshine. Charles Darwin, Young Licidas, LD Branthwaite, Summer Song is wow colour, Teasing Georgia, recently gave my brother sadly added issues after 12 years. Gertrude Jekle, a fav of my hubby's nice but very thorny. William Morris, Thomas A Becket, and many more. I do love a good scent, prefer various colours and large blooms. Although my Sweet Juliett is the exception as this must be the best colour and scented rose that D.A has ever produced and understands why it took them 15 years and cost the amount it did to achieve such a perfect English Rose........... If i could, I would move and have a bigger plot to grow them all..😅

Hi Susan, firstly thank you so much for your comment, really means a lot that people take the time to write. Wow, that’s a pretty serious collection you have, I haven’t ever seen LEH unfortunately but the colour really does look stunning. Sweet Juliet wasn’t on my radar so thanks, I will have a look for one, also seems it’s a good grower. I love the colour of Bascobel, and scent of Judy Dench, it really is like an English breakfast tea!! My mum has Shropshire Lad which is beautiful. Bascobel is my favourite rose, what stunning scent and a great repeat bloomer, so many buds at the moment! If there is one rose I love that’s not on your list it’s Lark Ascending, I did a quick short vid on it recently but will do a separate vid on my fave yellow roses, prob next year now. Enjoy your beautiful roses, and hope you like the channel! Matt

So easy to grow in the Pacific Northwest except they can be eaten all the way to the roots by wild rabbits. Snugs and snails can be controlled by Sluggo with no problems. Good idea to grow in pots so the bunnies cannot get to them as quickly.

I divided my lungworts and placed them in a few pots, planning to plant them in a few days. Each division had roots, but they all became stressed and severely wilted the next day, appearing to be liveless and dying😢😭

Oh no, sorry to hear that!! Did you leave them as bare routes for a period before potting up into soil?
@User-imwnx1518 ай бұрын
@@MJDWildlifeGarden Thank you for the reply! No, I planted them in the pots w old soil mix almost immediately and watered them thoroughly. I cut the roots instead of dividing them by hand. Not sure if that had anything to do w it😭

I see it’s possible, unless they were in direct sun or somewhere very warm im superseded though. Hope you have more success next time!! I will have some to divide later in the year. I would say that summer is less preferable for dividing, fall or autumn is better. Good luck!!

Dividing sedum, waste of time. It will root if you throw a stem on the ground and spit in its general direction. I've seen stems cut and suspended above ground by vegetation that had grown little pkantlets complete with roots at every leaf axil. If you seriously want a lot of sedum it can be propagated from a single leaf and a half inch of stem with virtually 100% success. I can easily make 3 dozen babies from any candidate for division without disturbing or even taxing the mother plant.
@MJDWildlifeGarden8 ай бұрын
Thanks, I did notice how easily the stems route when they come off the mother plant. These are tough plants aren’t they!! Thanks for the tips!!

The new rose Penelope lively is probably the strongest smelling DA rose I've seen and it combines three major scent groups-old rose, fruit and muhr at the back of it. Really delicious scent on that one. Dannahue is a replacement for Jude the obscure however Jude is actually smelling of tropical fruits while dannahue to me smells more like sweet rosé with a bit of fruit tinge to it.

Really nice video. As you probably know, the David Austin roses are very popular here in the states. I’m new to roses this year but of course heard about the DA roses almost immediately. I live in Texas though where it’s very hot and humid, so I’m learning some of the DA roses don’t do well here. I started my rose adventure with 10 total, including three DA roses. Roald Dahl, Emily Bronte and Desdemona. Probably most nervous about Desdemona. Planted them almost a week ago and so far so good!

I definitely needed this video! We just moved to a cottage in the middle of a 300 acre forest here in the Southern U.S., in the state of Georgia. I have been wanting to put in some flower beds, but I have no areas to plant in that are not in shade at least part of the day, if not all day, from all of the old growth deciduous trees that completely surround our garden. So I have been trying to think of flowering plants that I could plant other than the typical hostas and bleeding hearts that most people plant beneath trees here in the U.S.
