I’m the Kevin behind the question, thanks for the answer! And actually, I was probably only 70 miles away from Karun in Toronto. I am in Buffalo, just across Niagara Falls from Canada.

A great race, the new gyro cameras did a much better job of showing how mental the banking was. Lando really needs to sort out his starts, another really bad one. Sad for Oscar, but he should have been able to get past the Ferrari.

I love how women in F1 tecnhical roles are given the respect that's due to them, when they appear on podcasts. Most of these hosts are listening intently

Lando' has a great touch, his drive was beautiful 🔥🦾 However, some of the radio chat was still odd - we need a championship team - again, they have all the relivant data, why distractr the diver! Futhermore, that pit stop was awful, luckly the car's pace was out of this world - even the wheel spin start did'nt stop the car's dominace! I'm keen to find out why both McLarens had a wheelspin start - Oscar is normally a master at starts! Honrable mention, Charles Leclare had a fantastic race!

Once again, you refuse to acknowledge the fact that that kid is a second year driver with 38 race starts to his name. Finishing P4 and people saying he performed poorly is just so disrespectful, TBH.

Zak, Andrea and Charles all mentioned it was dirty air that prevented Oscar from catching up. Though his performance in q3 qualifying was indeed poor

Realistically the amount of races has increase since Oscar joined F1.He has about the same amount of race experience as Lando did by his 3rd year.Obvioulsy it's his second year in F1 but he has a lot of experience that previous rookies haven't had including sprint races and qualis.He is doing exceptionally but the gap between himself and Lando ha grown from last year so in that sense he needs to improve.

It’s kind of dishonest keeping to say „lando is done, piastri is better“ when Lando has a day off but to go back to „he’s just a rookie“ when Oscar is not delivering. Maybe we can acknowledge the fact that he is not as experienced yet and not indulge in recency bias, confusing Lando having a day off with Oscar being better.

Wow Karun you legend and genius for recommending the season review dvds. I had no such idea these existed. I also got into f1 only 5 years ago because of D2S and also became obsessed over night. I am always gutted every winter without my F1. I will now squirrel away these review dvds to watch in the winter months to get my F1 fix out of season. Excellent idea. Thanks Karun. And the person who asked the question. Legends.

I've watched Channel 4's F1 coverage since they gained the broadcasting rights in 2016 and Steve is absolutely one of the best parts of their F1 coverage alongside Lee McKenzie (C4's F1 coverage really is superb and I'm so glad we have it as a free-to-air option in the UK). I always look forward to Steve's interviews as they really are so insightful and I loved hearing his thought process behind how he goes about them!

Indycar podcasts have been talking as if Sargeant virtually already in Indycar. They speak like it's a "done deal" and only needs to be announced at some point to make it official.

The only thing realistically holding women back from F1 is probably just getting the strength up. I’m sure you can have women just as capable of braking in the right area, accelerating in the right way, hitting the racing line consistently etc. but it’s now just a matter of getting the physical strength up to contend with the G forces. Women are (generally) lighter than men, so it’s to F1 teams’ advantage really to have women in the cars, rather than men, if they are as capable because then they can put less fuel in the car, make it lighter and have faster lap times. Like look at Haas, Magnussen is 68kg, Hülkenberg is 74kg, and then in F3 you’ve had Sophia Flörsch who’s in the Alpine driver academy who’s going to weigh less than Magnussen and Hülkenberg who are 68kg (150lbs)-74kg (163lbs)… if she’s like, 140lbs even, that’s 5kg saved on Fuel compared to Magnussen for example
@corazon1757
@corazon1757 21 күн бұрын
just replying to your last point, currently in f1 there is a rule in place leveling the playing field til 80kg driver weight. so its no advantage if youre lighter than that (weight is added to the car accordingly)

There's also a Psychometric element to it mate . Women are naturally inclined to take less risks then men do - and I think that makes up for more laptime than strength does .(it's sometimes a stupid thing in day to day life but in the case of F1 it's very neccessary for any kind of success ) Being able to cope with Gforces is more so you can cope with a race distance but over 1 lap it has less of an effect on how fast you can go (Charles asserted the same thing in his first season) The cars have power steering so it's not like your using your strength to turn the car and the corelation between how hard you need to press the brake pedal for the effect is tune-able based on a change George once asked for. We have to remember that as much as we've gotten used to watching the cars seemingly go around the track as if their on rails , there's little to no margin for error between a good laptime and a potentially deadly accident, this never goes unnoticed by a drivers subconscious.
