These videos are superb! I love your explanations of your process; what a wonderful tutorial. (Have you used gouache? I wonder if I can use gouache instead of acrylic paint.)

I believe coloredbymaia uses a lot of soft oil pastels for her bgs and she uses satin glazing liquid to fix them. It seems to work really well for her, and it doesn't smudge on the other page when finished.

This is absolutely beautiful.❤ I recently ordered at set of oil pastels to try creating backgrounds. while I cannot come close to creating something this amazing, it surely provides plenty of inspiration. Thank you for sharing your work

You really nailed it! It’s beautiful 🌹👍😃. I know you can scratch into the pastel for details and it reveals the color underneath. Than you can bring some detail.

😍👍🌳🐿️🌲Irena, this was stunning!! And the background you created to surround our lovely red squirrel was so beautiful! 👏👏👏😃 I've been tempted to use pastels on colouring books many times, especially for backrounds, and have never done it because of the smudge factor once the painting is finished, but I might consider it after watching this!😅 I still fear the effect that fixatives might have on the colouring book paper itself... But I want to try so much!! 😃👍 Thank you for this masterful video!! 🙏 🤗🥰😘

Thank you so much for your kind words! 🥰💖 Pastels really are amazing for backgrounds, and while smudging can be tricky, protecting the page with a simple sheet of paper or using gel as a barrier can help a lot! I’m not the biggest fan of fixatives or sprays either 😅 A sheet of paper in between works just fine for me too! I’m so glad the video inspired you to give it a try! 😃

You are a real artist, so you can work with any materials! And the effect will always be fantastic!!! I recently bought this material and even bought special spatulas for pastels, but I used it only for a flat background😂 I looked at artists who work with pastels, their works are not so picturesque 😂

Thank you so much for your kind words! 🥰💖 Pastels are such a versatile medium, and it's amazing to explore them. They give such an artistic look! When I blend them with my fingers, I try to "see" shapes I can work with, similar to how I approach watercolor, rather than starting with a specific shape in mind. I hope that makes sense! 😄 Everything takes a bit of practice, and I’m sure you’ll create something beautiful! 🥰
@Ana-x2g7p2 күн бұрын
Oh, I'm still far from creating something beautiful, 😂but I'm very passionate about coloring 😇😁And I also tried using pencils for detailing, they remove a little of the pastel layer, but they draw! Thank you for the video, it's always very interesting and you openly share your skills!

This looks amazing, very beautifull. Do you have a link to the kinds of acrylic paints you use, i have tried looking them up but both sola and maribu have so much different sorts in my country.
@blackaneri2 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! 😊 Unfortunately, I use the acrylic paints I have available here, but I recommend looking for acrylics with a matte, soft, smooth, and creamy texture, water-based, and quick-drying. Always check the description, as this will make it easier to go over with pencils. If it’s a glossy finish, it might not work well for coloring books ❤

Your artwork is absolutely stunning. The realism and use of colour are what drew me to your channel. I love the look of the white space left untouched. It allows your eye to focus on the artwork. Thank you for the tip of using Gesso to soften the black lines. The absence of the lines gives the artwork realism.

Thank you so much for your kind words! 🥰 I’m so glad you appreciated the use of white space. It’s a technique I love for highlighting the colors. Softening the black lines with gesso really does make a difference, and I’m happy to hear you found the tip helpful! 💖

Beautiful work. How does the paper in that book look on the other side when finished?
@blackaneri8 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! ❤ I forgot to show it, but I'll make sure to include it in part 2, which I need to edit soon. Since it's all watercolors, the paper does buckle a bit, but that's normal when the paint covers only part of the surface. There's usually no bleeding through unless too much water is used. Taking it slow and working patiently really makes a difference! 😊
