A truly wonderful rendition....so very evocative. Like others here I doubted whether the somewhat sparse woodlands in the video would work but the rider and horse, the setting, the unbelievable music and singing and your recitation of those magical lines combined left me speechless. Thank you....

Im not a real carver 😂😂 i have kid sized hands n as i watch u use that handy tool, contemplating justifying getting one, i realized that unfortunately its yet another "ment for the job" tool that wont work for me, i think its more i have some hinky catch in my wrists n short fingers n small hands make it pert near impossible for me to adjust my grip n hold... BUTTTTTT omg that tool would b handy 4why im here today. Unconventional tools i use: chainsaw chain sharpener (hand held), some tapered pick that has mild file texture, 2 small rounded rough files ment for auto body work n a knife. The struggle im hitting is mid diamond i have a branch nub i want to keep, but i cant get behind it n the pick end (only thing that fits) is too pokey, sure i can screw it up n learn n do better next time, but i really like this specific stick n im not confident enough yet to try my knife since the last time i tried this exact thing, i didnt have my pressure n angle right n off the nub went, but whatever the issue was it was so small it was a fine line between screw up n sucess n partially accidental slipping. So all that in mind, any suggestions of unconventional tools that may do what I need? Anyones suggestions would b appreciated n it doesn't have 2b the proper tool for the job, just has to get the job done. I will add, before aquiring things that work better like the chain sharpener, i used a pocket knife, a dental pick n fingernail file. I dont shy from tools that make it tedious, i actually find tedious tinkering soothing *i am working with dry catchy wood*

Thank you for #4 n I would like to add taking from others experiences, if ur in a public location, don't full harvest, it may b easier to get to cos it's easier to find, but leave some for others to discover, especially for those who's only nature experience is that trip to the lake or up north camping trip once a year, it gives an experience for a parent n child share or a country boy to teach a city girl n impress her... also leaving it when it's easy to get to leaves it for those who may not b able to hike back n find more such as disabled folks or a grandparent teaching their grandkids. I was heartbroke when I went to where I found my 1st stick, I go there frequently n always admire that specific diamond willow patch, some inconsiderate human cut it all, I'm sure to make sticks to sell, not only is that harsh to the diamond willow (they broke off alot of it instead of cutting) but now noone can enjoy it😢 at least the base is still there for new growth🤞 I harvest 1stick out of 5-10 groups a time, per location if it's more than 1 at a location, there needs to be a minimum of 7groups. I'm extra about it cos others aren't.

My nephew and I were cleaning out some brush at my sister's place and came across a little tree with vine wrapped around it. I'm making a walking stick out of it. Being fresh cut it's green. Don't know what species it is but the bark hard and no way to trim it off with a knife. I took a brass wire brush to it and that worked pretty good but I found out you can take off more than just the bark. Anyway, it's looking pretty good. I'm just getting into doing a little wood carving and wood working. Good video, thanks for the information. I need to get some good carving knives. Had no idea what to get.

Great idea to use the beautiful Whitacre music as background to your film. It provides such a feeling of longing and melancholy, as well as peace and silence. Your scenery is not as I had envisioned--I had imagined deep, dark New England woods--but the film definitely captures the longing for rest and sleep along with not being able to rest because of duties one must accomplish--along with how lonely that can be.

Unfortunately there are no deep and dark woods near where I live. Further west there are more, but I don’t know enough of the ranchers that live there. I’d love to reshoot the video in a more wooded area some day.

The thing keeping me behind is the land I live in the Mojave Desert and not the pretty parts just the part where there is only bushes that's it bushes and heat and so there's not much to do out here and I can't drive yet so I can't drive to the good parts I normally only go because my girlfriend like to collect bones and there alot of bones around the shrubbery and so I'll go out there with her but other than that it's very hard to go and I don't like working out but I do like walking it's just hard to get up and go I feel like an arrow that has had the fletching ripped off without a destination or purpose I have no idea what I am to do out there 🥲

You’re lucky to live where you live. There are times here in Canada where no one goes outside because of the cold. I’d love to live somewhere that is hot. Keep trying. Developing a relationship with the outdoors takes patience.
