Is it any kind of vinegar? Or what kind did you use?

I cleaned a couple of bronze vases at the cemetery that had been exposed to snow, rain and hot sun for two years with 1 Tablespoon of all purpose flour 2 Tablespoons salt 3 Tablespoon vinegar. It did a fantastic job on them. Make a paste and test in small area. Will need to do some light scubbing. Just be sure to rinse really well and dry.

Nice video. I noticed your "vinegar" is a pale yellow. What kind of vinegar are you using? I have 6% cleaning vinegar and it's white.

Any idea how to bend an old 1700’s piece of metal bronze back into position?

No. But don’t try to do it yourself. Perhaps take it to auto repair shop for suggestions. OR if there is a machine shop near , go to the office and ask the foreman or manager. Wish my dad was here, he’d know! Machinist over 50 years. What he didn’t know wasn’t worth knowing anyway.

You should of internally braced the container wood BEFORE you go clamping it in a machinists vise! Not a very impressive restoration compared to others in here.

im making chainmaille from bronze wire and of course its a long process and there are all kinds of sections of the armor that are tarnished.. now i dont mind the tarnished look but i want it all the same color once its done and i wasnt for sure what to use to get it all one color so i can patina at the same rate. thanks for sharing this experiment, would there be any difference is white vs apple vinegar?

I think it works because it’s acidic. Drum cymbals are made of bronze. You could try a cymbal cleaner like Groove Juice or maybe go to home depot to get concentrated vinegar from the cleaning liquids aisle and try spraying it on
