Can you reserve seats on this route ? My wife and I are travelling on this route soon, and since we are both in our 60's we don't want to have to scramble on board with cases trying to get two seats together.
@AnthonyTravels
@AnthonyTravels Ай бұрын
Yes you can reserve seats, best place is through the lner app on your phone or use trainline app. Lner app allows you to change your seats easily so I use that more often on these routes

They walk on because the gangway is broken. Happens many times. Should be replaced, because it is too old.

Nothing ugly about the DFDS Ships to IJmuiden. The staff , landside abd on board are great, The restraunts and food are great. Entertainment good and ships very clean. I use them every couple of months and would never fly.

if you are on your own do you get a cabin too yourself, or could some random be allocated the other bed in a two or more berthed room like happens on sleeper trains?
@AnthonyTravels
@AnthonyTravels 2 ай бұрын
No i have always had the cabin to myself, no strangers in the cabin, i believe you pay for the whole cabin, it's the same price if one or two travel

one trip won't represent the feedback of low capacity and constant delays/cancellations, back pre-2020 every train to and from birmingham NS would be full - only 2 coaches on such a popular route

My wife and I will be travelling from Inverness to Glasgow in the New Year. Tickets are not yet available, but it seems we'll have to change trains and wait a while at either Stirling or Perth. Which would you recommend please ? thanks !
@AnthonyTravels
@AnthonyTravels 2 ай бұрын
I would say Perth, it's not a bad place and the station is quite nice as well, hope you have a great journey Oh and check for one way tickets rather than return, single tickets come out earlier than returns for some reason

Walk-on boarding via the vehicle route is absolutely NOT standard. It may have something to do with the windy weather conditions. Standard is via the elongated gangway from the terminal building.

Not one for train classes but I do enjoy travelling over lines. Being from the far West of Cornwall there are some lines I've only covered once or twice. I'm taking an 11 day break based in Carlisle in July, so I can travel over the lines out of the city. Newcastle, Barrow, Glasgow via Dumfries are ones I've once and only travelled northwards on the Settle line, so plenty for me to enjoy. As to your comment about roads, I prefer looking out for rail junctions as I travel lines, but the M5 in Cullompton is one I enjoy as it's where the train passes the road traffic at speed.
