Great tips. When do you use full vs half vs double gussets?

Doesn't work when double locked

Do similar system. Use the Harkin wingman instead of the Aztec. Just personal preference, no little prusik cords to mess with in a compact system. Great stuff, your videos are always pretty spot on.

Where did you find that drill&adapter?
@Rescue-mt7fl5 ай бұрын
Adapter is sold by whoever you get your Harken winch from. I recommend buying 2 as you can drop one out if the chuck and it can fall off the edge (so I’ve heard lol). If you don’t have a vendor, we use GME Supply out of Columbia, MO. They are one of the largest at height suppliers in the country. As to drills, we use the Milwaukee as it matches our other batteries. Everything he identifies is spot on!! Great video. We expand this out with using presewn loops in the ends of the ropes. You can actually perform almost all rescues without tying a single knot.

Thanks for that. I had fun mucking around with it. For me I'll stick to carabiners but nice to have an option for when you don't have them on hand. The couple of changes I would make is changing the barrel knot to a bowline, reason being it is easier to unite after being loaded. I would would probably change the inline fig 8 to a alpine butterfly for the same reasons. But to be fair, I didn't have too much trouble untying the fig 8 the times I tried this one. But the barrel knot needed my marlinspike.
@insertphrasehere1510 ай бұрын
I think he used the barrel knot to add more friction, but it actually isn't necessary. Even with carabiners, the friction is plenty, and with rope on rope here it is even more. I agree that a bowline and butterfly is probably the best way.

The farmer’s loop is easier to untie than the butterfly after a heavy load. The butterfly is almost as good, but I’ve experimented with it after watching “ Farmer's Loop/Wireman's Loop For Mechanical Advantage” video on the channel “whyknot”. I recommend everyone check it out.

This only works if the rookie didn't double lock the cuffs.

We painted the corner cuts and holes with marine grade paint in an effort to protect the bare wood. Not sure if that’s necessary but we thought it might help protect the investment.

Im about to copy your idea, but I just wondered why you used nails and not screws? I have a few to cut and I am really grateful for this video!

That was slick. So much better than using a throw bag on the ring, and just leaving it there until the finish. No more tangled up extra throw lines on the ground.

You can easily do this with a hair pin, zip tie, or anything thin and has rigidity and without any tools.
@ERROR-Musik474 Жыл бұрын
If it is not double locked you can do this on almost all of them. On the side of the handcuff is a Button that needs to be Pressed.

Magic. So I the fundamental mechanism is like how a regular trucker's hitch, using a slipknot , can loosen up and get re-tightened by making the "slipknot loop" larger or smaller.

You can also do this with a piece of plastic wedging it in there and pushing it through and giving it tough pull

The problem with this technique especially with 30/60 degree is that it actually shortens the length of the raker I did this at training Maybe I missed something Could you please clarify
@kilovolt24942 жыл бұрын
Yes, but no. Industrial shims are not necessary, you might have a paperclip or some flat metal ribbon. The tricky part is you can’t do the same if handcuffs are double-locked. The pawl won’t move, you need a key.
