Dude, I get that you are new but how can you not know that that plastic flat bit you thought was a pier was in fact the top deck of the "Zeppelin" aircraft carrier. Just look at the pictures front and back on the box sleeve.

@@Bodkin_Ye_Pointy I assume you didn't catch what I said, or it wasn't clear. I said you get 2 sprues the same. So there is duplication it seems. Therefore should be a spare runway left over, which could be used as terrain and build a runway on an island as an example. I fully understand what the components are supposed to be used for. But I am brand new to the game, you are right there. Currently building it all. As well as the other box sets I bought. Out in a video soon.

@@Bodkin_Ye_Pointy all good, no probs. I have now built it. It's a lovely kit. One thing I've noted now is the image on back is definitely wrong, as you only get 2 air cruisers and 4 air frigates. Not the 4 shown. I think they swapped out 2 sprues for 2 sea based cruiser sprues but didn't update the image. The website image is correct though

Yes most definitely. I'm considering trying to use an airbrush due to volume of ships I have to do. At least for the base majority colours. But will see as I find setting up airbrush such a faff. I often resort to rattle cans and brush work instead

Interesting video, really demonstrates how confusing things can be. I think it also demonstrates that the army lists and army building are the last place to start. A thorough read through of the rules is essential with the quick reference sheet to hand. I hope by now you understand the SR 9 or 10 divisional/army commander - this relates to the way army generals were used in the first edition, which was changed to the re-roll model in 2nd edition, BUT the 1st Edition option is still available in 2nd edition which gives several different way to use army generals, I am not sure if this is still in the Epic rulebook, but it is page 110 in the 2nd edition book. Another issue is that the scenarios are not written by the rules author and confused nomenclature results, e.g. light smoothbore, smoothbore and heavy smoothbore, the latter of which was not in the original rules except as siege artillery. The problem with Warlord games is that you can’t buy things from their UK store if you are outside the UK and their US store is expensive. I used to buy stuff from them but don’t any more.

Their last sale was on pure sprues, I got enough Bolt Action and Project Z to make Kill Teams of 15 to 20 models of Guard, Kasrkin, Arbites, and cultists. Plus a few Greeks with upgrades to make very small "Custodian Guards." Lovely models, great detail. Especially as they're "skinny" real scale 28mm vs the chonky GW "humans".

@@darthkek1953 I like the sprue sales as you can try models sprues for games systems you don't have yet but fancy checking out. The project Z models are really nice. I was kind of hoping the new bolt action. Would move away from chunky cartoon style figures to be more realistic like the projectz models tbh. But looks like they are sticking to same design philosophy

Nice. Still no leman russ expansions makes me sad. I've stopped collecting at the moment until all the units are available. It's sad but it doesn't feel like it's a complete game yet, and it's frustrating that the unit rules are all in expansions

That's not good to hear. It's not simple. In the supplement book it gives some example builds that you could simply use. I don't know what the French ones look like. Otherwise tbh depending on your opponent if just take what you like and pay the points. Ignoring the structuring limits

Dragoons are heavy cavalry . A division is 4 units -of 3 stands- with 5 on each en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_battle_in_the_Waterloo_campaign#I_Cavalry_Reserve_Corps

I'm glad to hear it's helpful. I am intending to do a live stream painting a stand in near future. I am hoping this will also help. I just need to find a webcam or similar that can film it. My current webcam is only a cheap 720p quality one and so wouldn't be a pleasant experience

Looking very good. Beautiful painting. British facings at this scale are always difficult for me, but yours look great. Good planning on the Army. I did something similar by painting up the British 5th Bde (8th and 9th British Bdes.) It was interesting, and fun, because those bdes had 4 bns British Line (1st Royal Scots Foot, 28th Foot, 32nd Foot & 44th Foot) and 3 bns Highlanders (Cameron's, Black Watch & Gordons ), and 95th Rifles, plus 2 btys of artillery. As you are doing now, it also gave me a goal. Keep up the good work, Have fun and be well.

Agree with your movement changes. However, I think I would have kept the artillery ranges but reduced the artillery damage.

You don't need this book. But it does give more scenarios, and clarifies some rules as well as giving some sample lists. However you'll be fine with the book in the starter sets for a while.

Out of interest, why did you prime the tanks black, then Leadbelcher? Just starting my own minis, troops first, waiting for magnets before attempting the tanks.

I just find leadbelcher works best over a black prime. Also the black goes into recesses better and gives a natural shade to the recesses. It's probably not necessary, but I did my titans the same and was happy with the process so stuck with it. Good luck with painting yours and I'm sure they will look awesome

I know what you mean. TBH the latest release has dampened my enthusiasm. Another book already, to give you the stats of the next wave of models. But i dont know which stats are included. Does that mean in a couple of months there will be another book with the stats of the next released models? And how do I play a 3000pt game, when I still cant buy boxes of the most basic tanks yet (predators and leman Russes) without having to buy a start set each time. I am currently in limbo and thinking I'll wait until its all released and then GW release a consolidated rule book with all the stats in.

criticals are not so easy you have to reroll the d6 with a natural 6 and on the reroll you need a 4+ to do get the critical hit for real

Yeah it was a few days later that I realised we did it wrong. The good thing was we did it the same for both of us. But yes it would reduce the crits by a good amount

I was watching Sharpes Regiment to help me paint mine. i think i need to start watching them again. Concentrating on a brigade/division is probably a really good idea, otherwise its so daunting.

@@midlandergaming7319 absolutely just paint a battalion at a time get it finished. I found when putting the flags on that motivated me to start another battalion and so on. I'm loving Napoleonics and is my main focus for this year. I completed my 18mm British army for the game Bataille Empire. That came off the back of 28mm for Sharp Practice. Now I'm very much looking at Black Powder for Epic and 28mm.

There were actually three Staffordshire Regiments of Foot during the Napoleonic Wars. The 38th (or the 1st Satffordshire) Regiment of Foot, 64th (or 2nd Staffordshire) Regiment of Foot and the 80th Regiment of Foot (Staffordshire Volunteers) . The 38th and the 64th seving throughout the Napoleonic war. £8th featured notably in the Peninsular war at the Battles of Vitoria and Vamero. At Vamero the 38th 1st Battalion was with 1st Brigade under Major General Hill and at Vitoria they were in the 5th Division, 1st Brigade under Major General Hay. GMB Flags has the 38th Flag under their British at Vitoria section. These guys sell the best flags in my opinion. Although for 15mm should still work for this scale.

Ive just started building and painting my Epic Napoleonics. Ive dabelled with getting into Black Powder for years but the size of tabel space even for just a single brigade made me sit on the fence. This scale i believe is absolutely spot on for Black Powder Napoleonics. Im so glad I came across your channel and this series of Epic BP Naps for those of us that are complete newbies to the game. Its looking like such a tactical game as well with the orders and formations and when to do what order, keeping in command etc. Fascinating. look forward to your next video on this one.

I'm still new to it myself. not really played a game yet. However the main draw for me was the scale. i just love wargames at a more epic scale as it feels more like a battle rather than a skirmish. it does look wonderful with all the unit arranged in regiments too. Let me know how you get with your stuff.

@@midlandergaming7319 will do, an that's certainly what immediately attracted me to this release. I was tempted by the American Civil war release but then I heard rumours about Epic Napoleonics. I went for both the British and the French starter sets so as to make getting games easier. Based on the 100 day war book I'll look to grab the Prussians at some point so can follow a campaign series of games. Would be tremendous to get a game in with you sometime.

@@midlandergaming7319 well I just went with starter sets and commanders at first. Recently just bought the Highlander and skirmishing 95th for the British and the Imperial Guard for the French. I'll be looking at the full French Calvary Imperial Guard pack a bit further down the road. I'm based just west of Northampton Town. Within a few miles of the M1. So pretty centrally placed. Be great to catch up directly.

That would be awesome. My friends have the Prussians and French, but are struggling to find time to finish there armies. I actually work in Hinckley, which I don't think is far away from Northampton, but might be a bit too late for me to game after work and still get home. However, I'd be up for meeting at warlord games or some other venue. I just want to start playing the game. To help me stay motivated also.

Not really. It seems my assumptions are correct. There is no point in spending any points on a general/divisional commander. And never buy a special character to be used as a general as again you are just wasting all his points and abilities. They can join units in a fight but this is risky and still doesn't utilise all their special rules. Someone mentioned a rules I cant recall the details of right now, which stated that all brigade commanders use the divisional commander base stat (or use it as a max - i cant recall now) but this again doesnt make sense as some brigades don't allow all the leadership values. In essence, I believe it is a legacy of the original rules set these were created for, and when transferring to make it an epic version, either very little playtesting or rules reviews happened. And what did was probably with people already familiar with the rules so didnt look at it in the right light. I.e. as a new player with no foundation to work from.

It's a really good game. I've always loved fleet games. Battle Fleet Gothic being one of the best. But ww2 naval ships is really cool. Rules work pretty decently. Only the points for some of the ships are way out. It's best using some of the community options that balance the points better when playing a pickup game. For scenarios though points don't matter. Another great fleet game is black seas. Only played it once but was really good fun.

Hello Nick. I'd really like to, but I went in so much with waterloo I still have loads left to paint. Is it the same rules set too? If its exactly the same I'm not sure it will feel like I am playing a different game. Unless maybe they amend the unit stats to be more unique to that game. I'll probably get a few sprues to try painting first

Apparently both types of tank tops can be assembled and set on the chassis, allowing you to switch between tanks between games

I had two sets anyway so made one of each. However they way I made the assault gun version the gun would be in the way as its glued to chassis. Maybe if it was attached to the top instead it works
