Hannah and Magoo were my two favorite riders. I was at the 1978 Hangtown, the last year the race was in Plymouth, I was 12 and was a flagman so I had a great view. Back then motos were 40 minutes, in the first moto Hannah lapped all the way to second place. The only one he didn't lap was Kent Howerton. He took it easy on them in the second moto and I think he only lapped up to fifth. Glover got the 125 class that day. great time.

Just throwing this out there, I saw Kenny Robert’s at a Sears Point road race, I’m guessing ‘77, where he was on a 500 and everyone else were on 750s. He won.

I really love this channel. I miss the DT175 . I remember it was a pleasure to ride . I use to as a teen loved riding that bike . It was a 76 or 78 DT 175 . Goldfish color. It had points I remember adjusting using a match booklet for the proper thousandths. Some really good times

The Golden era of road racing. Steve rode a brilliant race but he had a huge cubic displacement advantage over Barry and Pat. Steve was on the latest factory Yamaha OW 750 and Barry on a factory Suzuki 500 and Pat a production Suzuki RG500. For Barry and Pat, it was like taking a knife to a gun fight.

If the Harleys can't beat it, change the rules so they have an advantage. If that's not enough, ban it. That's the AMA way. 👎
@bradpotter64012 ай бұрын
The bikes in AMA racing are supposed to be based on production models and Yamaha never had a four cylinder water cooled 2 stroke street bike available to the general public. When they allowed them in road racing, it drove all the other manufactures out of competing.
