You have been busy, love all your makes, very fancy pjs. I’ve just cut a dress out in Crafty Pies rainbow gingham, hope it doesn’t look like pjs when finished it 🤦‍♀️😂. It’s lovely that your daughter shares your joy of sewing, my daughter is just getting back in to sewing after being put off at school.

All beautiful makes that look great on you. Turning the shirt into pyjamas was genius! They are so pretty and a bit more interesting in shape than standard ones. Thank you for being so generous and giving us the benefit of your experience with your tips on how to make the designs a bit more wearable and long lasting.

Hi Wendy, your fleur dress is a real winner. I hadn't seen the niamh skirt before and looks lovely too. How lovely that your daughter sews and you can twin lol. My daughter is not at all interested, which is a shame. You must be a very skilled seamstress so I wondered if you have ever draughted your own patterns?

So glad I found this video. I’m literally in the process of hemming my Nell dress and when I’ve tried it on it seems so big and unflattering so I’m in the process of adding waist ties! What a great idea. Also agree with you about the buttons, I have done the button holes and buttons and luckily they turned out ok but I can easily get it on over my head so in my next version I’ll do faux buttonholes!!

What is the difference between a popper and a snap? Haven’t heard of poppers in the US.
@WendyPooleTheDressmaker
@WendyPooleTheDressmaker 29 күн бұрын
@@delpha2419 Hiya, I hadn’t thought of it this way and they’re very similar. In the UK what I mean is that a “popper” could also be a press stud or a snap fastener. (I may have been using old fashioned terminology). So it would be 2 interlocking discs, made out of plastic or metal that are sewn into place, then snap together when one side is pushed into the other. Or they can be like jeans fasteners, where there is no sewing involved and a small gadget is used to attach them to the fabric.

Your versions are gorgeous. I have made the blouse and then modified the fit for me and made a dress. I think the fabric I chose isn’t as successful as your viscose versions (I used cottons). I notice that your cotton version also sits a touch away from your body like mine, so I know now that it is the fabric. I’m going to try a viscose version next as I think I’ll much prefer that. I was going to try ties on the waist, so your hunt is really useful. Thank you. I fancy mashing the Fleur and Nell together as I love elements of each of them.

That’s a great idea, I think I prefer both in a more floaty fabric, as for me it’s more flattering.😁

I love all your versions and found your adjustments for the back really helpful as I’m 5ft 4” too. I love your side vent on the gingham version. I really hope to make one soon. I’d be interested to know how you’d compare the peplum Nell to the Fleur blouse as they are very similar even though there are some differences.
@WendyPooleTheDressmaker
@WendyPooleTheDressmaker 21 күн бұрын
Thank you, although the peplums are very similar- I made the Fleur top using a double gauze which is more bulky than the gingham viscose, so they look quite different. But with either of them if I was making the top again with a structured fabric - I’d put less fullness in the peplum. But if I using a viscose, I’d keep it the same. 😁

I’ve never made a shirt before so I may well look into getting the Tony shirt. What is the fit like in the body as my husband likes a slim fit, but he has quite broad shoulders. Love your Fleur blouse xx
@WendyPooleTheDressmaker
@WendyPooleTheDressmaker Ай бұрын
I personally thought the fit was good, not tailored like a slim fitting formal shirt, but just a nicely fitting casual shirt that wasn’t oversized. I’d measure the shoulder width on one of his shirts that already fits well and just grade out to that size across the shoulders. Hope that helps.😀
