I really wish it was. It looks nice but it’s been sitting the better part of a year and my dumb ass left a window down all winter long so it’s gonna need a little bit of cleaning.

I think it’s in the parts manual as cruise control wiring harness. It’s all tied together. might try another kenworth dealer. some parts guys are not going to do much in searching for it

I’m going to have to do a video on this this weekend… what you do is you go on TruckPaper and search out trucks like your own. find one that does not have the smart wheel use that Vin number to go to the dealership to order the wiring harness from the cab, main wiring harness to the engine, brake cruise control switches on the dash I believe it’s called the cruise control wiring harness at the dealership on their computers

I can try and help from here. what year is your truck you are working on? did you completly remove the module out if the dash or did you leave it in?

@@Truckin_Life1 it is a 2000 kenworth w900 with a n14 and I js bought it 2 months ago and the previous owner did the smart wheel delete does the cruise have a fuse I checked all fuses and they are all good

@@sourdiesel8033 is there anything else not working? there isn’t an exact cruise control fuse/breaker. can you adjust your idle by bumping the set/reset switch?

depends on your truck. I went on truck paper and searched same kenworth truck year, engine, and model. you can also search T800, T600 or W900 series. find a VIN number of truck with same specs w/o smart wheel. take that VIN number to Kenworth and you can order correct wiring harness. most likley if truck is before 2006 it will need to be built to order

I try to make some of this content as in current times taking it to a shop is way more expensive than a couple hours of work at home

I used heat shrink butt connectors and put heat shrink tubing over all three wires after they were connected and testsed

You will have to unbolt the mounting bracket off the side of truck. you will see the wires going up the bottom arm for mirror heat and adjustment. you will run the turn signal wires with them to be easiest

I’ve been trying to get a friend of mine with a 680 to let me add turn signals so I can make that video

I to the instrument cluster out and it looks difficult to get back in behind it.

@@glennwo7702 it is a little difficult as the plastic front is snap in trim. the guage package is bolt. depending on if it’s digital or not speedo you need to take off the right of steering wheel trim off before you can get the speedo trim off and moving to the left. be careful pulling it out as the snap plugs are kind of brittle after a little age

from the rubber covers at end of mirror arms up through the upper arm. wires should follow along the CB coax and mirror heat wires up to the mirror bracket

@@robertfrank676 to be fair I am unfamiliar with the mirror arms on a T680, and how they are mounted to the cab. after doing some research it looks like you will have to unmount mirror bracket on cab and take off back of mirror bucket. wires are run down bottom arm and out the bottom of the mirror bracket into the cab. inside the cab the wires should already be there. although with the newer trucks test the wires for actual power as they may need turned on by kenworth in computer

start by pulling back the rubber arm cover at the cab. you should see cb coax and the power wires for mirror heat and moto mirrors. two ways to do it is feed wire from cab to mirror bucket in upper arm. Or you can feed it up into the mirror arm where CB coax comes out one end into the mirror bucket and the other end towards the cab. I did it from cab into mirror bucket.. I tried to go from mirror bucket to cab. but there is a divider where the upper and lower arm meet sending the wire intk the wrong arm

I didn’t mess with it. I left the box plugged in for the lights and horn. thats a seperate harness in the dash than the jake and cruise jump harness. I have been wanting to change that out too but have not had the time

@cdward4893 do u have other vids that show customize how to. Inhabe a 2008 t660 and looking to do some lights on top and on the side. But the wiring I know nothing about. I might have to run new wiring on the passenger side as the last driver cut it at the rear marker light. Idiot.

So you have four screws that you can see on the back two on either side then you have one screw on the bottom side under the horn button that goes up at an angle into the center

My Kenworth is a 2003 has a 475 C15 cat I wonder if that part number is the same for the Cummins as the same for the cat

@@chuckteverbaugh6798 I’m not sure if it is or not. but if you can go to truckpaper and find a like year make model and engine without the smart wheel you can use that vin to find the correct harness

Thanks a lot I talked Kenworth and give them that number they said they could get me that harness it's around $500 I just want to make sure I get the right harness I said they would charge me restocking fee so I'll keep digging can get it worked out I appreciate your help may call on you again

should be a wire for park lamps/clearance lamps and another wire for turnsigals. if it s a standard 3 wire setup White-ground Black- park Red-turn

Thank you let me know if there are other projects you want to try and tackle I’m trying to see if there’s any other videos that I should make that help. People customize their own new truck instead of having to go to a higher price shop to do it most things are pretty simple.

yes it should be. other than the wiring harness it might be set up differently for the cat motors. so to find the correct wiring harness you will have to go to truck paper and search for a t600 or T800 with a c12 in it from years 2000 to 2002 use that trucks last 6 vin and then have kenworth look up the jake/cruise switch wiring harness off that truck. then it all should just plug and play.

two VIN numbers that should work is 880001 2001 T800 898388 2002 T800 both with a C-12 motor

How do you get the steering wheel off 03 Kenworth

@@Laurie88311 If it is like mine there are five screws holding the centerpiece of the steering wheel to on either side and then one that comes up from the bottom middle after that it either a 1 inch or inch and an eight socket know and a steering wheel puller kit just make sure you disconnect the wires underneath The center pad of the steering wheel before you pop the steering wheel off or you’ll break those wires

I had to leave it connected for my headlights to work correctly

@@alisrt3281 Yes you should see Inside the dash behind the switch panel where the wiring harness connects in so you’ll have to plug it into the switch and then there’s the wiring harness inside where you got an unhook and rehook it to but mine was completely plug and play

Mines been running great since I did it and I didn’t feel like tearing the whole dash out to pull the old wiring out

harness is from kenworth. go to truck paper. find a truck for sale that is exactly like yours but does not have the smartwheel. find last 6 of vin. take that to kenworth and get the harness and switches. the box to disconnect is behind speedo and tach down in the wiring mess. the plugs you will hook into are behind main switch panel they will match up to the harness you get

@@bigcody1658 there is a purple fuse on the smartbox behind the speedo might be the issue if nothing is working. the wiring harness I’m told now is engine specific

@@cdward4893 ok I thought it was, mines got the same N-14 in it yours does except mines a 500 horse 1850 torque I believe my only problem tho is I lost my city horn and everything in the wheel so I still got to play with it

Yup he was just a little ways back behind me far enough for that car to pull out directly behind me at the Chevron in Goldendale and then passed me right around that same corner
