What lights do you have on this?
@Splashaquatics27 күн бұрын
Hi @kevinbuxton8577 - The lights I am using on my tank are the Twinstar 900S series. There is a short video I uploaded a short while ago on this very topic. Check it out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/npbWnaGqaZiXj68 I switched from the Fluval Plant 3.0.

Hey I wanted to ask as for as a 75 gallon would go to setup. It only has sand and rocks in it currently with to very seasoned filters on it. To convert it over to a dirted tank how long would it be before I could add fish too it? Same day? And I plan on adding a good amount of vegetation as well.
@Splashaquatics27 күн бұрын
Hi @marcussmith1177 - You can introduce fish sooner if you reuse the existing substrate, filters, and decorations from your current tank setup. The sand, rocks, and other materials already contain beneficial bacteria, which can significantly reduce the need for a complete cycling process. This is especially true if you're also using the same filters. Here are the recommended steps to follow: 1) Remove fish/livestock. 2) Drain the tank of water. 3) Remove the sand and rocks preferably using a shop vac. 4) add dirt/additives to the soil (check out this video for more details: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYGpe56Qhr11gtU) 5) Add sand/gravel 6) add water (with prime) and rocks 7) Start filters (do not clean the filters, the dirtier, the better :)) 8) wait about 2-4 hours and test your water. 9) If everything checks out with the water, add a couple fish and then add the remaining after a few more hours. Let me know if you need me to clarify any of the steps. You gave me an idea for a future video :)

All of my tanks are dirted & I love them. The largest is only 20g, but I've got a 75g in the works - building a stand out of slabbed hardwoods from the property right now. I always keep test strips handy in case something digs down to the soil layer & have had that happen once - turned out to be cories digging a hole in their hiding area. I'd sell extra plants to local stores, especially given how red & healthy they are, in exchange for new fish. 😎
@Splashaquatics27 күн бұрын
That is a great idea! I will reach out to my local fish shops and see if they are willing to exchange plants for fish. That would be an ideal scenario! Any suggestions on what fish I should add to the tank?

Wow! Are you using CO2? What is the substrate you’re using?
@Splashaquatics27 күн бұрын
Hi @Cameraman2419 - I just started dosing Co2 in my tanks but I haven't seen the benefits yet. The true cause for the plant growth is the dirt and especially the high lighting. The Co2 helps with reducing algae and reducing the PH in the tank. Future video coming out on that topic. Stay tuned and thank you for subscribing.

that's some crazy growth! that ludwigia was crazy.. and the rotala, especially when it says they get about 15cm lol what's the red stem plant with the spikey like leaves at 7:54 fern looking plant.. awesome aquarium, I bet your local fish store would love those cuttings, maybe in exchange for some fish food or fish

Hi @MrOneWho - That is a beautiful plant. It is called mermaid weed (Proserpinaca palustris). I highly recommend it but it really seems to like high light. Once I switched to the Twinstar lights, it really took off. I will take you advise and ask around my local aquarium shops to see if they would exchange for fish/food. What fish do you recommend I add to my tank?

Great question and yes I did. I couldn’t get the colors to match. I was able to find someone online who shared what the exact Fluval settings to match the Twinstar but it never looked remotely close. I think it’s hard to match since the Twinstar has significantly more LEDs than the Fluval. Thanks for watching! I’m about to post an update on the plant growth. Make sure to check that video out. It’s insane what lighting can do.

Change your prefilter. Oase has a coarser sponges. I have had this same filter for over two years, and the flow is great. even too much for a 20-gallon high. So you obviously have an issue.

I checked all my fuses in my fuse box, there and under the passenger side dash and all of them are good. It just won't start. Check the pressure on my fuel pump, checked my spark plugs, checked my ignition coils to see if I have spark, which I do. Not really a common issue, but I checked the fuel filter to see if it's dirty or something and everything checks out, just still won't crank over. I also checked my ignition because there was a little giggle possibly not allowing it to crank over most of the time, took it off and tried to crank it regularly with a big slot head screw driver and no problem at all, still allowed me to crank it all the way. Don't really know what to check now 🤷♂️🤷♂️ anybody have an idea?
