Isn’t it really something you can get around by just changing string gauges on the individual strings? I mean; if it’s all about tension, you could match the gauge to your likings. Or what? Let’s say you have a baritone guitar and the light strings become too tight; why don’t you just put on a thinner string and tune it to the same note?

Great video Rob! I have to believe you are correct - those $2000 or $3000 IEMs are a serious markup. It you think about tooth whitening trays - you can get a set of those molded to your teeth that you do at home for $100. They could easily do the same for an ear where you warm up the molding material with warm water and let it sit in your ear until it cools. I would imagine that the two biggest concerns with IEMs are sound quality and comfort/fit. Sounds like these nailed the sound quality point, but are a bit lacking on the comfort/fit. I have always had a problem even with just the silicone tips on Bluetooth headphones - the bigger tips are slightly too big and the medium tips are too small and fall out. Custom molded fit is attractive to me, but not at an exorbitant cost. Maybe this is a reasonable compromise! Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for watching Dan....maybe I should be getting into the IEM market with markups like that! lol Sounds like only a custom mold would be good for your ears, this might be a decent option somewhere in the middle just DON'T go with the 6 drivers like I did. Two to three driver should be good enough! Have a good time at the Animals\Plini show, that should be one to remember for sure! Happy thanksgiving!

great review!. I have this guitar now, and it's great!. If you have an allen wrench whit an L shape, just put the longer side to the truss rod and you don't need to take the string tree off. It's also easier to place and turn the truss rod that way. Regards my friend

This is helpful for a newbie like me! Production suggestion, however: you have a habit of speaking up, and then you go into 'mumble mode'. Then back to speaking up (usually at the beginning of sentences) and then 'mumble mode' again towards the end of sentences. It makes it challenging to understand you!

For the bar tightness issue: - On the Ibanez Edge bridges I'd strong recommend getting a Red Bishop Magik Arm (there's a specific one that fits both the Ibanez Edge and Lo Pro Edge trems). It's a drop in replacement for the stock Ibanez arm and arm holder in the bridge. I have it on two Lo Pro Edge trems and I love it. One extra nice thing, you can get both a Floyd shaped arm or an Ibanez shaped arm (similar, but different enough to matter). I like my bar tight so that it stays where you put it, and the Red Bishop arm works great for that. Can't comment on durability since I've only had it for a month, but I messed with those stupid bushing for years and grew to hate them. - For a Floyd Rose bridge you have two choices to fix the arm. You can get a the Red Bishop Magik Arm for the Floyd Rose trem (different part number than the Ibanez Edge replacement Magik Arm), or Floyd makes a replacement arm and arm holder that uses a small set screw on the side of the collar to tighten the arm. I have one of those on a Floyd 1500 bridge as well it works as well as the Red Bishop arm, though again I've only had it a month so I can't comment on durability. I also can't comment how much you will have to mess with the set screw to maintain the tightness level you want, and difficult to change during a gig.

I have a 2010 model in see thru blue that I got new for half price, I live in the UK and had it shipped from Canada. The dollar to pound rate was really good then and I got a steal. It is still my go to guitar for playing. It is the hard tail and not the floyd rose model but it stays in tune really well, even if I haven't picked it up for a couple of weeks it likely will still be bang in tune which I find amazing.

I find Sterling's are hit and miss. My Mariposa is one of the greatest guitars I have. My Albert Lee needed a lot of modification to get to an acceptable point. Keyword being acceptable. The neck is way too thin. But I insist on using them because a) the 4x2 headstock really makes them more compact and i love to strum on the headstock. b) they have the only trem sustem you could use without a whammy bar. I have to agree however with the affirmation that sterling guitars could be better. Even my mariposa needed a couple mods to make it great. Saddles had burrs, pots were complete crap, pickups are amazing but I really had to dial them in. The only stock items on my Albert Lee are literally the neck and body, and the neck leaves a lot to be desired. That being said, at this point I don't see myself buying more sterling guitars. I basically gig them cause they're completely modified the way I need them to be. I'm literally at the point where I walk into a guitar store and am not satisfied with anything available.

Would you get one of these over a LTD MH-1000 Baritone? I am used to mahogany bodies, maple necks, rosewood/ ebony boards. Would this guitar be somewhat close to that style of tone? I like passives and EMG preferably for actives. Not a huge fishman fan.
@aminorerror
@aminorerror 11 күн бұрын
Depends on the price. The Jericho is supposed to be $2200 new, and while it's got the specs to back it up on paper, I'm not sure it's worth that price tag. I've become less of a fan of the tone and versatility of the pickups in the years sine I reviewed it and I've got a ringing resonant issue that I haven't been able to trouble shoot either. If you can find one used in good shape for the price of the LTD then it's a no brainer and go with the Jericho. If not, I'd actually say LTD. I'm not a fan of Fishman's either so I hear ya there. Such a shame because so many companies are getting lazy these days and just dropping blanket fishmans in freaking EVERYTHING lol

@@aminorerror literally. Make Seymour Duncan JBs, Nazgûl’s and EMG 81s popular again. Don’t really need anything fancy anymore but then again you are talking to a guy that still loves 2000s metal in everything drop B and higher. Still play many guitars in drop c#/c and drop b. Somewhat I was thinking a baritone in drop g# would be cool but then again I found a couple sweet Schecter c-1s for what that Ltd would cost me new. One passive with Duncan’s and one is a classic white hellraiser. I’m actually going to go that route. I think I will be alright at 8 guitars. Gonna do some pickup swaps on a couple prs guitars I have also and just stick with what I like😂. Next year gonna buy a new KSR Juno and Orion. I’ll be done other than rounding out some pedals

In over 40 years of playing, I have upgraded spending hundreds but eventually sold every foreign made budget guitar I’ve bought, While some were better than others, there always a shortcoming somewhere like poor pick ups, materials and cheapo hardware, no case etc. My own personal experience is that it was just not worth the money or my time unless I had the spare parts already. Buy original or if on a budget, just wait and a get a deal on a used original.

I have 3 currently, a Blackjack FR-S, a Hellraiser 8, and a Hellcat VI. They all play great. That Hellcat has become my go-to bass for my surf rock band (although it djent's like a fucking monster). All of them under $1k new when I bought them (all three were bought well before the world ended...). I really dig how they'll put out just like a super strat or a hot-rod telecaster, great looking instrument, but with upgraded hardware, cool pickups, and usually something special in the wiring. All 3 of mine are Korean made- buddy of mine has an American custom shop PT he bought on the cheap off Facebook. That thing is a fucking skull crusher- super hot pickups, great hardware, and zomg what a looker.... He scored it for $1k, and I jelly.

Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind words! If you're on a budget and spending less than $700-ish I'd recommend going fix bridge too. Tremolo's have a lot of parts and the ones on cheaper guitars normally aren't very good. If it's a legit Floyd Rose double locking system they will at least stay in tune (unlike the Sterling's and the whole point of this video) but the tone will be lacking regardless of brand. Good luck and rock on!

Not sure if you can confirm if they are a legit company or not - for your channel it can be good to know if you are promoting a scam brand, or if they are not a scam - then they are not a good company. All products from all companies can be delayed / go missing / have an issue. A real company one can get customer support quickly. Shite / scam companies all you get is silence. Movespeed is the latter. I would not buy from a company that has all resources in marketing, and an annual budget of $1 for customer support

Great video! I understand you’re not considering this now, but after your initial investment, I believe you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how affordable Apple devices become due to their resale value. I wouldn’t worry too much about memory swapping. This was a MAJOR concern with the M1 8gb units and several entities tested the issue and concluded “Apple uses high-quality NAND and advanced wear-leveling algorithms to prolong SSD health”, and SoCs generally manage memory swapping more intelligently, minimizing unnecessary writes. Real-world data from M1 and M2 users shows SSD health often remains high even after regular swapping,
@aminorerror
@aminorerror 22 күн бұрын
Thanks for the input, that's def very good to know! I still monitor it and try to make sure I avoid swap when possible but that def adds some confidence in the long term durability of the machine. Def really happy with the performance and the new M4 chips look insane, so I'll prob be upgrading sometime around the M6 chips in a few years. Thanks for watching!

For the seventeenth million time, it's not RAM. It's more like whopping big but incredibly fast cache. You get 8GB because it's really hard to make chips that work at that speed, which is why you can now get 16GB default, the M4 chips have higher yield. Why did Apple do this? Well, Intel didn't push, and now they are in receivership, the government is going to give the company to someone else to run, maybe Qualcomm or ARM.

I switched back to Mac with the M series came out, never an issue at all recording, stability, performance etc... Very glad to hear you got pretty much everything resolved. I have the same laptop (my sons have 4 more abet M1/M2 models and my wife has an M3 Air). I'm using Logic, Ableton (from time to time) with a Scarlett and sometimes interface with my Helix but nothing really older or obscure though. There were definitely issues with some software and older hardware released prior to the new ARM chips. Hah... I had a Studio and an M1 Pro Macbook... traded them both in on my M3 and just plug it in when I need to record and I don't have to worry about trying to transfer files. I do have an external TB4 enclosure I store most music on though. Again, very glad you got most things resolved!
