Great idea/solution - just got mine and installed in minutes (would have been shorter but I took the opportunity to clean the internals). Placed back on the base and easy charging. Thanks!!!

Great video and solution! Curious, have you seen these work on Roomba’s where the plastic supporting the contact has melted and the plane recedes up into the vacuum? I’m dealing with that issue on my 980. Did a bunch of googling to figure out why it was tucked up into the vacuum. Came across this and thought, “hmmm… could this cover fix the issue?” Curious if you’ve seen / helped fix that issue in your experience. Ideally, something like one of these covers would do the trick! -mark

Hello, Thank you for your question. To give you the best answer, I would need to see a couple of images /pictures of the contacts currently on your Roomba. You can message me at facebook.com/roombarefuge. Thank you, John

J-series owners. It seems the contacts on the j models are used to communicate with the tower to empty. Poor connections from the contacts /connection on your Roomba will result in the tower not turning on to empty the bin on the Roomba. These nickel contact covers will likely solve this. John

As per the write-up. These replaceable covers are NOT designed to work on the( 400, 4000 models, which were made over 15 years ago.) or the Roomba Essential model or the S-models like the S9 or S9+

From an EBay customer ... These worked perfectly! My J7 was no longer recognising the battery and iRobots repair centre told me that the contacts were worn and damaged and it was not repairable or covered under warranty. They returned me the robot and a few minutes later it was working again after fitting these! Thank you so much for designing these.

From an Ebay customer ... WOW! I had no idea this little contact cover would fix all of Roomba's problems. The Roomba now charges every time, and I no longer get battery not detected messages. I also, no longer get messages about my Roomba not being able to connect to the internet. After 8 months of reading and trying Reddit fixes, this one has worked. Thanks so much! This should definitely come with every Roomba. Very easy to install

Ive had charging problems with my j7+. Ive kind of assumed it was the cleaning base and tried a conductive paint on the base contacts, which probably wont last long. Seems to have helped. I'm getting these too and will probably look into replacing the base contacts as well as they look worn.

First things first.. I ordered the contacts for my I3 after watching this video. The communication after I ordered was excellent. The contacts arrived earlier than expected, neatly packed and easy to install. I was up and running and have not had a connection error or charging problem since I installed the contacts. Very happy with this product.

This took about 5 minutes to install and completely fixed the charging problem on my Roomba j7+. Before installing it just wouldn't charge... I tried many things.... Installed, set on base, immediately started charging and powered up. I'd recommend installing on a brand new unit to save yourself the future headache.

FROM eBay buyer The kit arrived early, was as described, and fixed my problem as advertised. The seller was very communicative and included detailed instructions on how to use the kit. All in all, this helped me save my Roomba with as little waste as possible. Would highly recommend! By someoneprime

FROM eBay buyer Worked exactly as described to fix error 26. If you have a Roomba that refuses to maintain suction and start a cleaning job, BUY THIS KIT! For 20 bucks and a tiny bit of elbow grease you will save 70 USD and know that the bearing should stay healthy for quite some time. raymorri_46

FROM eBay buyer New message from: tr-87105 (1) If you are receiving the various errors, I highly recommend this repair kit. I was getting error 26 and replaced the manufactures recommended parts that were expensive and to no avail. I found the Roomba Guy and decided to take a chance on the repair kit he advertised. I took the chance, mainly because the cost was cheap. The chance paid off! i followed the video and printed directions for the repair and my roomba is now back in full operation. I couldn't be more happier!

Thanks for making these. I have just had a J7 and charge base replaced for this issue. I’ll order some of your contacts to protect the new one. The contacts on the charging base were also showing wear, should I be concerned about potential problems from these getting worn or is the actual issue just from the contacts on the bottom of the robot? The last robot only lasted 18months. Thanks

In most cases, the contacts on the Roomba are the ones that wear.

@@Roombarefugewe always wondered why the robot would suddenly move back and forwards on its own. We just hope the replacement lasts more than 18months as these robots are not cheap

We have an I-Roomba I7+ that is about 2.5 years old. Well taken care of, regular maintenance. We only have a cat (smaller) and a corgi (who yes, sheds a lot) but shouldn’t have had this issue after such a short time. We purchased new specifically because it advertised great for dealing with pet hair, and that it worked well for hardwood or laminate. Either way, it didn’t last anywhere near where it should’ve. We were about to go by another one, but came across this video. Although I couldn’t guarantee it would fix the problem, it seemed like it was the fix for several different error codes which is kind of odd (THANKS ROOMBA) so I took a chance. The instructions were easy to follow, and was nice to have the video help. Only took around 45 minutes. I just watched “Wall-E” finish cleaning the entire upstairs with no issues. Was quieter too! Before the fix he would start and about 30 seconds later “ERROR-26”. No more!! It is definitely worth the try to fix it as john has made this easy and like I previously said, it seems to fix several different codes that may pop off??? Thank u again John!!!

Thanks John, worked like a charm “Dusty” is alive and well and it only took 20min or so. There was a very small black washer that was hiding on me and it wouldn’t spin “easily” until I found it. John warned me about this one and it still almost got me. My recommendation for anyone attempting this, spinning easily means there is very little resistance, if you give it a spin it’ll keep spinning for a second or two after you give it a twirl. If your doubting whether it’s spinning “freely” you might need to find that small black washer (hiding in the housing?). Thanks again, nice fix, worked great!

Thank you, Vince, for the feedback. Yes, the small "white or black " washer deep inside the metal spinner must be removed. It is one of the culprits causing the issue. Well done on getting your roomba back working. John

Your previous message I AM SOOOOOO HAPPY!!!! I have a Roomba i7+ and a few months after buying it, it stopped working. Initially, I was experiencing an Error 11 and then it changed to Error 26. Roomba replaced my vacuum for free and let me keep the broken one. I really didn't want to just throw away a $600 robot vacuum, so I let it sit in a closet for MONTHS. Finally, I plugged it back in and charged it up to find it was still giving an Error 26. I did some quick research, found your video, and ordered the parts. They arrived quickly and your video and printed instructions made it so easy for me to replace the parts. The moment of truth arrived and IT WORKED!!!!!! Now I have an upstairs and a downstairs Roomba. Thank you so much for making it so easy!!!!!
