I started putting on a half smile when I was 17 (20 now) outside of this context, mostly to have a more disarming demeanor (I have some serious rbf let me tell you) bevause I would get co.plaints from my customers at the mcdonalds drive thru. My one coworker noticed the change in my demeanor and asked me if I was high. I didn't smoke then (do now) so I was appalled at the idea that someone would think that. So, I actually stopped doing it for a long time.

IDK how anybody can hear that description of the girl's home and not think it's iatrogenic trauma. break rules = lose humanity! And they put *children* in places like that. It's a crime against humanity

You ladies are so smart. Been in therapy for 20 years and no physician or MH specialist has been able to explain things so well.

You ended a relationship but still lived together for 8 years ???!?!! And you claim there was no romance. lol please stop the cap

This was..disappointing. Cognitive dissonance isn’t the solution to a REAL life threatening and self inflicted health problem. You cannot "be healthy at any size". Emotional eating is just a maladaptive coping behavior as instant gratification. It drowns uncomfortable emotions. Change the behavior, sit with your emotions, and be gentle with yourself, but do not lie to yourself.

Love the information but the giggling constantly is extremely distracting. I really needed to get the information out of this podcast but it was very difficult to gain the maximum value. Leaving relationships really shouldn’t be giggly the whole time. Just my opinion.

9 people nobody voted for were able to arbitrarily overturn this, because lazy politicians used the same court before to arbitrarily enact it. Do it the constitutional way next time.

I recently started dbt therapy for borderline personality disorder. I have been going for about a month. I am noticing I am very emotionally minded. Getting into wise mind is very difficult. I appreciate your two covering this topic.

I love that you have added KZbin to your publication of your platform! Even more, I loved the role-playing with follow-up discussion. To me, the T in FAST can be most tricky. The reason is not that I don't think I tell the truth, but because I often pick my words so carefully to spare the other person's feelings, that saying, "No," to someone is watered down a bit and not completely the whole ruth and nothing but the truth. I hope you give more role-playing examples in the future because they seem very concrete and easy to tweak to individual circumstances.

Self diagnosis is valid, actually. It can be incredibly hard to get diagnosed as an adult, not to mention the cost involved.

Yes!!! Especially women or someone experienced the inattentive type. There are so much inner experiences that are not so “diagnosable” from the outside.

I’m glad you were doing a podcast on this. That said, to me it doesn’t sound clear or well researched. It comes across as just riffing on a subject with your best guesses. You don’t go into the reasons behind things, evidence, limitations, various uses, etc I think the length served to confuse things, and the actual content that you covered, could’ve been done in about two minutes

Hi Logan, thanks for this feedback! There are other DBT podcasts out there that cover content in a much shorter period of time (15 minute or less episodes) if you want to find those, as they may be a better fit for what you're looking for. Our goal is to explain DBT in an in-depth way that's also easy to understand and that's why we don't go into explaining a lot of research and jargon. With this being our first episode, we were nervous and that likely came across in how we presented the material. If you choose to keep listening, hopefully you'll find episodes helpful.

So I found you guys from my physicist and I'm really enjoying how you guys explain stuff like BPD and it's really reassuring that there are people out there explaining mental health for education and entertainment and not just using it to make money and not using music in the background it's like your in the room with me and I love it so thank you
