Why should the semicircle of train be higher than the horizon line?

Good question. The horizon line represents the height of the eye of the viewer, so if they were standing next to the front of the tube train their eyes would still be level with the horizon line in the drawing, as the train platform is flat. The middle centre of the train is taller than a person of average height, so that is why:)
