norway in BC ! did the did the first d of this run in 2002 or 03 with Dave Norel and Braden Fandrich . I ran everything except the big tripple drop , came back in 2005 and was a bit on the low side so walked big slide , and tripple drop . 2007 ben stooksberry went in and ran the tripple stack . 2008 did run and ran everthing after having a califonia start to the season . this run is amazing but a terrible hike in to get too but worth it. the goods are 2km of north stien before the cofluence .hope people make it back to this run .

Love the video. That's an insane river for sure. It's so far beyond my paddling ability, just crazy! There's not one rapid in that entire video I would try. I've run Browns Canyon, and some other sections of the Arkansas, at 4700cfs; and that was the peak of my abilities.

Beat down from Hell at 3:00. Bet that guy saw his life flashing before his eyes! Ouch! Fortunately he knows to stick with his boat. I'm kinda amazed that he isn't still stuck in that today.

What an amazing video! The GoPro videos really got my heart racing, that was extremely impressive. I´ve watched another movie about the Stikine quite a few times, but this gave me completely new impressions about the beauty of that canyon and the monstrosity of the rapids, so thanks for sharing your experiences!

Holy crap. Very impressive. Fun to watch, thanks. Is anything 'unrunnable' anymore? The skill, athleticism, confidence, and boat design all contribute so much. Adventurers at the edge have always enriched the lives of all.

Great video! What was your starting date for that trip? Do I get it right, that you left the kajaks somewhere? Did you try to get a permit to enter China? Just had the idea to explore the river and didn't expect someone did this before. good job :)

You know, all the safety nazis will pitch a fit at the sight of someone drinking and paddling. Absolute bullshit. If you've got a nice strong buzz going (no, not shit faced, that's bad juju), it can actually be beneficial. The shock of falling in cold water is lessened, as is the chance that shock will cause a swimmer to suddenly take a deep breath as a reaction to the bracing effect that the cold produces. It also dulls the panic that can hit someone who just got washed into a hole, ironically keeping their judgement clearer. It also lowers anxiety. It's vaguely analogous to the reason that the guy driving drunk that caused a head on collision often survives, but those in the other car often don't.The drunk guy isn't as tense and keyed up right before impact, A bone is much more likely to break when it's already under lots of muscle tension, as opposed to someone who's "relaxed". I realize that a horrible comparison to make, but it's a fact. And, once again, I'm not talking about being stumbling drunk. Just enough to be in the zone. Besides, paddling with tightwads is never fun.

hey ! serious question: at 2:52 how did he get out of the hole ? did he catch the forward flowing water underneath the hole ? Best
@petrhermanadventures95093 жыл бұрын
I think it's more like he got sucked under the whole thing. I've had something similar happen to me on the Thompson, with big power water when you hit that forward crease, you get folded under and pop up downstream.
