Massively. My GF is a marketing director and she is baffled by them giving people 100 bucks worth of discs for thousands of dollars in marketing.

The goodbye videos are done out of respect. We should definitely not hate on them. Disc golf is different from other sports in all the right ways. Our pros deserve every dime they get. They have grinded for too long, and now they are finally starting to get paid. We should be happy about that.

Question for Tyler. Why do you believe disc golf has to be just like golf? I ask because all of your points refer to golf. (Serious ?, not trying to start crap lol)
@TuloBThyName6 ай бұрын
It's not neccassarily that I want to make disc golf look like golf. Golf has been around for over 150 yrs and they have spent the time panning out the rules, why do we not adopt more of what they are doing? I want to golf course designers make players have to think about what shot they are going to take and what are the consequences for their mistakes.
@scottcashion6 ай бұрын
@@TuloBThyName Disc golf isn’t golf just as pickleball isn’t tennis. Sure they’re derived from the other but we don’t have to adopt what they’re doing? Who’s to say disc golf doesn’t try something new & different & golf adopts it? Do you think giving a designer that much power to ‘force’ a certain shot takes away the creativity from players? Consequences are needed, but it’s fun seeing exciting, crazy, creative shots. Not the same stock tunnel shot through a mando from 100+ players. I understand safety should be the main priority when placing mandos. However, I feel the ego of a designer that thinks ‘they know best’ comes in to play too much. Thanks for the debate. Very much enjoying the show! The different opinions & comical nature keep me coming back!
@TuloBThyName6 ай бұрын
I can understand that. But pickleball has adopted the basis of tennis and adjusted for the size and competitiveness of their game. I think disc golf can adopt ways to make players think more when deciding shots through different kinds of penalties than more an actual forced shot on a hole. That’s where we still have creativity. I’m all for having the creative risky lines but have more punishment if that line doesn’t work out is what I mean by course design. And thank you! We are stoked you love the show and we hope to be putting out better and better content for yall! We appreciate you!

100% agree marketing & advertising is lacking big time. Disc golf seems to be 10+ years behind trends

I understand Matt’s take on quality of videos/audio & don’t think he’s wrong. However, there’s a lot of people out there, me included, that don’t care about quality. It’s entertainment either way.

I'm the guy who got their dog sponsored by lonestar. They were real jerks to me about it. They used the meme as marketing material and never asked or contacted me. I reached out to see if maybe we could get a lonestar dog jersey. They told me to pound salt. Not a fan of their company.

In terms of Majors, as an Australian what it usually feels like is everything is very much US focussed. The DGPT must expand to other parts of the world if you want to sport to grow. Less DGPT events in America and have the Euro swing be an integral part of the tour plus an Australasia swing. A major in N America (Tour Championship) plus European Championship and one that can be rotated between Australia and New Zealand (Down Under Open) and another in Asia (Japan Open). Then on top of that Worlds should move outside of the US every third year to another country.
