Ah man, that look of defeat, almost naivety at 8:11, He very obviously still believed in the "mission" and truly wanted to help the people, and as the series goes on you watch his optimism quietly fade little by little.

I couldn't wait to go to boot after binging this show. Couldn't sign that line fast enough lol. They portrayed the marine corps pretty well in this series. I was a crewchief so I didn't eat as much green weeny as the grunts did, but at the end of the day we all ate it and this showed how ridiculous things can get during a war where people are trying to make names for themselves and getting marines killed in the process.
