Nice work. I am just starting out and looking at the Celestron NexStar 8SE Telescope. Hope to get close to this level of astrophotography. Thanks for sharing.
@Rubik3xАй бұрын
They say that these Schmidt-Cassigrain telescopes like the NexStar aren't any good at deep sky astronomy. And, it's true that so much magnification rules out many large, fascinating objects such as the Andromedia Galaxy and the Orion Nebula. But there are plenty of smaller objects that are perfect for these telescopes. They also say that the alt-azimuth mounts on our NexStar telescopes are no good for astrophotography. But, as you can see from my images, the mount can do a good job of tracking the object. The mount uses dead-reckoning to track the object based on a good 3-star alignment. But you need to keep each exposure at 30 seconds or less to minimize field rotation. Our mounts can track the object's location but cannot compensate for the rotational movement of the earth. That means you need hundreds of short exposures to get sufficient exposure time on an object to minimize camera and atmospheric noise. Hundreds of exposures take a LONG time to stack and post-process. To get longer exposure times, you would need an equatorial mount ($$$). You will need a controller of some kind to run the camera. I use a ZWO ASIair Pro mini-computer to run my dedicated ZWO astronomy camera. Many people get good results using a DSLR camera. I think if you understand the limitations of your scope, you can get very satisfying deep sky images. However, you can start with the moon, planets and the sun (with the right filter). I hope you have fun with your new hobby.

I remastered (re-edited) the video with better software and more experience on my part. Also, there is a lot of interest right now in the eclipse happening on Monday, the 8th of April. It should be even more spectacular than the 2017 eclipse; more solar activity and longer totality time. I envy those who will get to see it in person. Thanks for watching.

what karts do they use
@Rubik3x Жыл бұрын
These are Sodi karts with roll bars added. They use 4-stroke Honda gas engines. You run the 6.5 hp karts until you prove your skill by achieving a certain lap time. Then you can graduate to the 9 hp karts. I can run both types since I've been racing here for many years. In all honesty, the 6.5 hp karts are just as much fun on this tight track.

@LoudPedal66 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video, Rubik!What are your ideas to keep these boats, relevant, viable and entertaining?
@Rubik3x Жыл бұрын
What works for us with Formula 1 auto racing is identifying with the teams and drivers. Having the boats change names at every race to advertise local sponsors makes it more difficult for the casual observer to relate from race to race. Back in the hayday of hydroplane racing (50's, 60's and 70's), there were boats with nationally recognized names like Budweiser, Atlas Van Lines, etc. I think the sport needs some big name sponsors. That will attract more TV coverage nationwide. At least, we still have some KZbin coverage of out-of-town races. Chip Hanauer suggested having standardized boat hulls and engines to level the playing field similar to IndyCar. This could reduce the cost of entry into the sport and put emphasis on driver skill and team setup rather than the technology employed by each team. I'm kind of a technology geek, so I would be disappointed to lose that aspect of the sport. Thanks for watching!

In other words, neither I nor any one else benefit financially for the videos I create. Just for fun. Haven't been to PGP recently. Lots of other things have been getting in the way.
