its a dx run. DCC changes the game substantially and mario's DCC run is significantly slower.

Far too many to list in a single youtube comment, but if we're assuming DCC out-of-box settings there are a lot of really eyebrow raising changes. There are a few holes which got patched with a ton of invisible walls for well known tricks such as casino skip, but other holes which are SADX exclusive are left totally open for no discernible reason. There are small physics tweaks which are meant to make the game feel closer to SA1, but they end up making sonic feel a bit floaty and akward at high speed. The "framerate" optimizations don't actually make the SET objects mimic how they would in SA1 (such as spike balls) despite that being the listed intention. There's a lot more egregious stuff, but overall I think DCC ends up being a net-negative casual experience without a ton of tinkering with the settings and knowing what to look for. Vanilla SA1 and vanilla SADX (ran through modloader) are much better experiences with more option for creativity. DCC is a great way to play the game casually when you enable SA1-JP SET data and camera, but its still largely inaccurate and I wish more people wouldn't treat it like a 'definitive" release of the game with the current state of the project.

@@thatguy8636 yes, but I'm assuming anyone who watched this had watched the original beginner's guide which mentioned this. At this point, both the advanced tutorial and original beginners tutorial have been obsoleted by the new 2024 tutorial I uploaded recently covering the entire story

They're both fantastic games, I do think 1 is a stronger title overall but the fact that 2 is even in the same ballpark is a huge achievement

Chao themselves are super daunting to me since most of the management for them in this game is handled on the VMU. It's really tough to essentially play two games at once, and its made even harder by the menuing and Chao Adventure being fully in Japanese. I plan on doing Chao% runs to practice for my 130 emblems attempts at some point, but for now killing them is way easier than understanding them

..? This is original hardware. All sonic adventure (1998) speedruns on my channel are recorded using a Sega Dreamcast.
