You imply that this is forced mate by omitting the fact that black has a better move. After Kh2, black plays Kxf2. It is still losing for black but in a less satisfying way. It's a bit misleading.

**En passant** is a special rule in chess that allows a pawn to capture an opponent's pawn under specific conditions. Let me explain how it works: 1. **What Is En Passant?** - The term "en passant" comes from French and translates to "in passing." - It describes the capture by a pawn of an enemy pawn on the same rank and an adjacent file that has just made an initial **two-square advance**. - En passant is an exception or special case in the rules of chess. 2. **How Does En Passant Work?** - Suppose your opponent's pawn advances two squares forward from its starting position. - If your pawn is positioned diagonally to the square where the enemy pawn passed over, you have the option to capture it en passant. - You move your pawn diagonally forward to the square that the enemy pawn passed, capturing it as if it had moved only one square. - This unique capture allows the capturing pawn to land on a square not occupied by the captured piece. 3. **Requirements for En Passant:** - The capturing pawn must have advanced exactly **three ranks** to perform this move. - The captured pawn must have moved **two squares** in one move, landing right next to the capturing pawn. - The en passant capture must be performed on the **turn immediately after** the pawn being captured moves. - If the player does not capture en passant on that turn, they can no longer do it later. - This type of capture cannot happen if the capturing pawn has already advanced **four or more squares**. - Also, if the enemy pawn lands next to your pawn but only after making **two moves**, en passant is not allowed. 4. **Notation:** - The notation for an en passant capture is the same as any other pawn capture. - Write down the square where your pawn has landed, not the one where the captured pawn was. - For example, the move 3.exd6 en passant looks like this: ``` 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. exd6 (en passant)

There are many games in the chess databae that looks like this position... Thats why it is very important to know this kind of endgame.

@JonesChess hopefully I remember it when the time comes then. I've played 100,000s of game and yet to have this or any similar position like this over my career as a chess enthusiast. It's always good to know these chess tactic but for the most part it's going to be just as useless as a bishop pair checkmate. I know ima regret it when it happens in a game but really idk what database you are referring to where both opponent rooks just so happens to be on the next file of the king, unable to give a check and not connected. That imo is rare so you can shove all that game database up yo a$$ because you probably don't even have that data or know wth you talking about. When was the last gm game or tournament you even seen this happen? Alot? You have got to be joking if you think this happens frequently in chess

@JonesChess15 күн бұрын
The longest chess game ever recorded with a clock was played between **Ivan Nikolic** and **Goran Arsovic** in Belgrade, 1989. The game lasted for **269 moves** and took over **20 hours** to complete, ending in a draw¹. This marathon match is notable not only for its length but also because it featured the endgame scenario of rook and bishop versus rook, which is known to be extremely difficult to win.
