This new ones don't share the same graphite with the older ones. They bought the company but not the recipe of the old pencils 😉

If you like BWs, I'd recommend trying a smattering of Tombow and Mitsubishi pencils. Not just the Mono 100 and Hi-Uni flagships, either. I've come to prefer the modest 8900 (B) to any of the BWs.

I think I'm still using my first Blackwing and I got it like 6 years ago or something crazy like that. I draw and write with it daily or a few times a week. I have like three unsharpened ones that have been waiting to be used and my first one is still going lol.

What type of paper do you use? Any tips on getting a nice print on thicker paper? You get such beautiful pulls 💛 I need to get a press asap lol hand printing is tougher than I thought!

Use Mitsubishi, Tombow, Kitaboshi, Faber-Castell, Staedtler, Derwent, Generals, Koh i noor etc pencils for drawing. These are designed for writing. I have never bought or used Blackwing. Too overpriced.

The original ones were very popular with Disney animators. Not sure how animation differs from other drawing in terms of the ideal pencil.

Seems unnecessarily harsh. As another reviewer provide in great detail, definitely try the additional hardnesses - I’m guessing you’ll find your sweet spot.

They're expensive, but I like what I get for the expenditure. I prefer the silver/grey version over the black. Slightly harder lead. The blacks are really, really soft. And the white is hardest of all. So it really depends upon your preferences and needs, but silver seems to be the sweetspot for me when I'm just writing. For drawing, I prefer the black. For watercolour sketches, prior to painting, I prefer the white. Great pencils though.

Great video. I've been using the Palomino Pearl for over six years. Love it! It's a very smooth pencil. This is just me I only use a proper sharpener (Kum Masterpiece pencil sharpener) $25 Amazon.

Would the speedball professional tin be a good choice for printing on. T shirts?

I've been drawing and writing semi-professionally for 30 years, they are smooth and pretty but frankly not worth the $. I have every different model that Palomino Blackwing has and I have problems with the erasers getting hard/unusable. Also the graphite isn't any darker/better than the average decent quality pencil. It's smooth, but so are other MUCH less expensive pencils. Also they don't last any longer than cheap ecomy pencils, they should at least last longer for the $.

How did you get the prints to not have a faded-look? Asking cause I want to make prints on cloth, and last time I tried it was unsuccessful- it didn't transfer well

I apply a generous amount on ink to the block, and make sure that when i am pressing I use an even amount of pressure on all areas of the block.

Thanks for the video, I’m just getting started and…I was definitely overly ambitious with my first design 😂. My question is how you store the blades: does keeping them in the handle dull the blades? Finally, thanks for the tip on clean up. It’s been messy in the sink but the spray bottle is a great idea.
@DanielVillaArt11 ай бұрын
For those type of cutter I typically leave the rest inside the handle. I personally have not had an issue with them dulling due to storage.

sometimes with the water soluable inks I have an issue where it never seems to fully dry--stays tacky on the paper for a long time. Is there a reason that may happen? these are wonderful videos you are creating. THank you so much.

Are you using any additives? What brand? What kind of paper you printing on!?
@judgeworks3687 Жыл бұрын
@@DanielVillaArt no additives. It was the speedball watersoluable ink. I can’t remember the paper but it was a thin printmaking paper. Someone told me that the paper type can affect how that ink dries. You haven’t had that issue? Are there certain paper weights/gms you use?
@DanielVillaArt Жыл бұрын
@judgeworks3687 it could be a paper issue. I tend to use between 150-250gsm papers.
