The tappet (rocker) cover has four bolts. The three smaller bolts fasten the cover to the cylinder head. What is the larger fourth bolt used for? What is the port used for?

I have some work I need done. How can I contact you?
I tried this already to no avail. That thing was in there tight. I was about to make a blind bearing puller for it like I did for another bigger bearing, but then I saw a video where they use hydraulic force to get it out. Since it's a blind bearing, there is a cavity behind it with no way out, so you stuff it with play dough, grease, damp bread, damp paper or something similar, then find a punch with a similar diameter to the bearings inner diameter, and punch away. The naterial you stuffed in behind the bearing has nowhere else to go, so it pushes the bearing up and out to make space fof it to fill. I have not yet tried this, but I will. The logic is very sound. I will probably use a little heat too.

I did grease with a cut up rag method it worked great (i have a bearing puller but wouldn't get it out)
@socks24415 ай бұрын
@@mike623030 yeah, I used this method, bits of bread, newspaper soaked in water, oil. It eventually pressed/punched the bearing out. Then I had a bunch of cleaning to do, lol.
@mitchd9492 жыл бұрын
Next time just put it in the oven or in a bbq grill to heat the entire casting evenly, then pull out all the bearings at once.

I have 1 of these engines ive been saving for several yrs now and Im clueless with anything diesel.. really hope to dive into mine at some point... Id love to put it on a yard cart or old lawn tractor possibly...
@juliogonzo2718 Жыл бұрын
They are really very simple engines. Only real complicated part is setting the injection timing. It's only complicated because there is not much info on how to actually do it. I just rebuilt a Chinese clone of an L100. Haven't run it yet. New piston, rod bearings, head, muffler, rockers, lifter tubes, pump, line, and injector. Bodgejob coffee table rebuild with Chinese mail order parts... what could go wrong 🤣 she'll go or she'll blow
Yeah you can...but if you have any rubber parts like oil seals, it will dmaged by the flame of the torch

Is there a way to just buy the generator part of it for another yanmar engine that has a tapered shaft for a generator? I have access to get a few without the generator part, & i’m wondering if they make a replacement one.

Is the oil pickup screen in the block a big issue/cleaning? I’m looking at some used L70s for my old tractors & am looking at buying 3-4 of them. Is there anything I should look for when examining them? They place I’m looking at has tons of them/hundreds for a bulk complete core price.
@achithabodhaka61223 жыл бұрын
Nothing much. If the engine starts perfectly, that's it. but when the engine is running , if it makes some white smoke or blue smoke, then you have to consider. That means a low compression, bad piston rings or bad injector signs.
@michaelbenoit2483 жыл бұрын
The engine block on this thing is so small. Well no ignition coil, it’s an OHV, no spark plug, & no carburetor. Well compared to a Kohler K301 it’s pretty small.
@achithabodhaka61223 жыл бұрын
This is a diesel engine. So there is no any carbs or spark plugs.

... good job bro, how many hours of your time took this diesel engine?
@achithabodhaka61223 жыл бұрын
I think around a week. Because there was a crack on the crankcase nearby the oil filter. It took me a little longer to refabricate it. If you don't have any troubles like that, it'll take around two days if you can find parts easily. Check my other videos also. I have more restoration videos on my channel.

any chance you know the torque specs for one of these engines? I have one Im ready to put back together
@achithabodhaka61223 жыл бұрын
Actually I don't know accurately. When I was restoring this engine I hadn't a torque wrench even. I just hand tied it as I feel. But be careful when tightening crankcase. Because it's made of aluminium and slight over tightening will rip off threads. Check out this KZbin channel. He is mentioning torque specs in his videos for this kind of small engines "kzbin.info"
