Why would you go out the pavement? Lol. It is what adventures are all about. Younger people are buying adventure bikes, they are not buying cruisers.

I agree about all motorcycle riding is adventure riding. I've been riding 40+ years, did lots of dirt riding in the 80's on road bikes, before we had ADV's (there was only the BMW R 80 GS). I have an old 1988 Lowrider, had it since 1989, and have a sidecar on it at present. I brought a Pan America in 2023, the 2022 Enthusiast Collection. I love the Pan Am, I have taken it on dirt and trails a few times with 50/50 tires, but I run it with road tires and mostly commute in a City with freeways and use it for sports touring and mountain road riding in Victoria Australia. I won't be selling my old Lowrider or my Pan Am.

I have a Pan Am and haven't taken it off road much. For me it's a touring bike that I could take on a gravel or dirt road if necessary. It's a fine freeway/highway bike...it hauls ass, it's comfy with good suspension, and unlike a bagger, if for some reason I wanted to get off the pavement I could do so.

I have a 21 PA, I love it. I can hit the back roads living on the coast that’s essential, but I can still hit the freeway with my wife n set the cruise it has a comfortable seating position, plus all the Dynas with t bars get left in the dust along with the baggers so it’s a win win 👍

This question is for current owners of a Pan America. If I bought one do you think I could ride over 200,000km over 6-7 years without doing anything to the electronics, motor, transmission, clutch, brake calipers, coolant system, or anything mechanical on the bike? Would I be able to just turn it on and ride only replacing wearable items? I currently ride a 4 year old Super Tenere with 100,000km

My wife and I both own one. Unfortunately, there’s no way that will happen. Even if you buy a 24 PAS you WILL have to replace the fuel pump multiple times over the course of that many miles. It is a great bike for sure, but HD, for whatever reason, refuses to fix the fuel pump. Any PAS owner knows that you’ll have to replace the fuel pump every 10-15000miles. It’s a $5-600 replacement. If that’s a big deal, then don’t buy one. If not, it’s honestly an awesome bike. Just sad HD can’t fix something, that at this point should be a recall item given that it’s been an issue on every PAS regardless of model year.

I came from cruisers and bought a V85TT, previous owner put street tires on it, I put the 80/20 tires on it and wish I had gone 50/50. I'm enjoying the backroads more than I thought I would. I'm looking at a 300cc dirtbike now.

I have a 23 PAS 3700 miles, what a great bike! A lot of criticism is due to off road. 540lbs off road, are you kidding me? I don’t take my dr650 off road too heavy. The PA is a great road bike and that’s where it belongs. I’m 74 yo and have 7 bikes. The reason I ride mostly adventure style bikes is because the are the most comfortable. You can’t move around on a cruiser and after 200 miles I want off. At my age I can still do 700-800/day on an adventure bike. Peace.

road with the SLAP (Squeal Like A Pig )group about 5 years ago in that area, beautiful and some nice technical stuff (rocky hills), did great on my HUSKY 701. I would like to see someone do what we did on a BIG ADV, it would be helluva workout!

I currently have a 24 PA, not my first, i traded my other in, missed it and got another. One of the most fun bikes i ever owned. With a good set of tires, will go about anywhere a bike can go. I get tired of the ADV crowd talking trash about how unreliable, ugly, or fill in the blank negative the PA is. Any forum out there you can find any problem with bikes, especially new models. Even Toyota, with its new truck recalled a whole model year of engines, Ford with ecoboost, along with every manufacturer. Mine has been dead stone reliable, great handling, fast. The KTM is the only one faster, rider dependent. The thing i like best about the PA, it doesn't have a bird beak, and its overall performance. Probably one of the most fun machines ive ever owned, and thats what riding is all about, to me, fun, an escape from reality. The thing i dislike most, people that have a different brand of bike feeling its their duty to tell others why their bike is superior.

I've ridden tons of gravel roads on big touring cruisers. They share the same problem as the Pan Am, if the terrain gets ridiculous, they're big heavy lumps to turn around in small areas and on hills. To me ADVs make sense for tall people as they can stretch out and be comfortable. At my height, it's a bit like riding a big wheel bicycle around a circus tent. All great until you have to get if off the kickstand or bring one to a stop with a passenger on the back.

I test rode a 2024 PA this summer at a Touratec rally. Was not impressed. The bike lacked the soul my former 2005 Electra Glide had. I have a 2015 Yamaha Super Tenere 1200 and would trust that cross country tomorrow over that PA. I have read more bad reviews than good from past and current owners. Electrical gremlins up the wazoo and HD refused to stand behind their warranties. There’s a reason why there so many used one available and the value have plummeted. I spent four days at that Touratec rally and the least test ridden bikes were the PAs. The reps over there were bored out of their minds. Harley will discontinue them soon, likely. For the same money or less as a PA, you can buy an nice Africa Twin DCT and go anywhere trouble free.

Im glad you like your bike. I have a PA, not my first one, neither had issues and has taken me to Beartooth Highway, Chief Joseph Highway, Yellowstone, Cody, Idaho, Montana, Washington two up trouble free. For years I've read how slow HDs are, well this one smokes your AT and the mighty GS too. I read a lot of negative from people that haven't had one, or had bad dealers. What I mostly find is people that have one and enjoy it. A quick look at the bike forms out there and you will see that they are all having issues with electronics in one way or another. I have 2, 2023 RGs also, a CVO, and and a ST. All 3 are great bikes, but bikes don't have souls. Character, yes, soul, no. And i have never road a Hoda with Character, never. Guzzi, Triumph yes. As far as off roading, a set of knobbies, will power, and a ounce of skill will get just about any bike there. Watch Million Dollar Bogan and some other utubers. You like what you like, so do other people.

@@brucem8129 I bought one of the first '21 Pan Americas sold in Eastern Canada, I loved the bike but it had so many electrical problems that I had to get rid of it this past summer (June 2024). It was in the shop for repairs, recalls, or updates more than all the other bikes combined that I've owned in the 37 years I've been riding. "Character" isn't something that appeals to me if I don't know when the bike is going to leave me stranded because it wouldn't start to get it on a ferry (happened) or I almost get hit by a truck because it spontaneously shut off in the middle of traffic (also happened, twice). It was too bad, I've been riding HDs for over 20 years but I traded the Pan America for a '24 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports, as a total package I liked the Pan Am better (mostly for ergonomic reasons, it fit me perfect) but I am willing to trade that for reliability any day.

@@brucem8129 I would have preferred to keep the Pan Am but I didn't trust it anymore, I can tolerate only so many breakdowns. The dealer offered me a '24 Pan Am at a rock bottom price but after all the trouble I had with the '21 I didn't want to take the chance of a repeat performance. The same person owns both the HD and Honda dealerships, I've been dealing with them for almost 40 years so they gave me the Africa Twin for an equally good deal. It's good to hear that someone has had a positive experience with their Pan Am.

I went on a big ADV ride with around 30 people. Two riders were on Pan Americas. One of them worked for a Harley dealer. Their was one hard trunk that was very popular in the group. They sell for $115 on Amazon. The Harleys had the same trunk and the dealer bragged that they only cost $900.
