Lou is the anti-George Bailey (from It’s a Wonderful Life). I always kept watching this series thinking she would finally realize it but her character never really changes. It’s not as if there weren’t any inflection points. It’s that the writers never made the change for the character. She could have been one of the best. Instead she probably gets most of the negative attention from fans… for good reason.

The patient with the brain hemorrhage had the same problem that killed Liam Neeson’s wife. She hit her head skiing, didn’t think there was a problem and when they realized it was the only hospital she had didn’t have a neurosurgeon. If the ambulance brought him they would have taken him to a hospital that could handle his injury. They would have done it because of the injury on his face. I got a call from the Level 1 trauma center my daughter was unconscious from a car accident. Because I worked in medicine I knew if she was where she usually was that time of day they bypassed a perfectly good hospital to bring her to the trauma center it was going to be a head injury, big burns or a large area of blunt force trauma, limb amputation. I knew this before the chaplain got on the phone. It was a head injury. She woke up during a CT scan, thought she was in the lighted tunnel people remember from near death experience. That was thirty years ago. To get any kind of scan now she takes a sedative and has to go to a place that has open equipment and still finds it very stressful. Thank God she woke up.

I would love for them to do a continuation of this show. The show would take place now with the suit being past down from mentor to mentor.

Dr Bush … I saw another episode about a patient who died from a Southern Pacific Rattlesnake. At the time he said they were the worst. I thought he minimized the Mohave. Maybe I remember wrong or he learned more. The interesting thing of that episode is he went out identifying characteristics of bites from the different species of rattlers. For instance a low bite in a fairly precise geographic location is likely to be a Mohave. Different species maybe bite higher or lower, different terrain, time of day, the snake was under something, etc. He was right, there is so very much we don’t know. Dr Bush has always been interested in snakes. He has identified how little we know about venomous snakes and what is helpful to treating them. One day there will be a sanctioned specialty for venomous snake, spider, etc bites. While I’m here poisonous is something you ingest, like food poisoning and venomous is the name for snakes, Komodo dragons, black widows, brown recluse that bite, etc. Now, poison dart frogs, the brightly colored small frogs that secret poison on their skin. South American tribes rubbed the tip of their arrows on the skin to make them lethal, hence Poison Dart frog. I think they are blow darts, not a bow and arrow.
